Yes 45 billion additional funding to ICE to spend up till 2029 is not concerning at all. For reference the US marines 2025 budget total is around 57 billion.
The current budget is 8.7 billion for ICE.
The new annual budget for HLS and ICE will be 21 billion, 25 billion for detention centers, and another 45 billion for finishing the wall.
The total is 175 billion for the next five years.
A five year budget for the Marines would be 285 billion.
In the future, you may want to read this sort of thing for yourself instead of parroting someone who is just fear mongering.
The 45 billion is for additional detention centers they say, but really it could be used for anything they like. Funny you think I didn't research this myself, ice budget for 2025 is 34 billion add 11.25 billion a year and that is 45.25 billion dollars a year.
Making the ICE budget over a 5 year period 212.5 billion for comparison to your 5 year marine number. Way to try to downplay the facts. ICE is basically a new domestic federal police force who is ignoring due process, and is now funded out the ass.
If you copy the first thing that pops up on a Google search, you really need to check what you are copying & pasting into Reddit.
"ICE's budget as of this writing was about $8 billion a year, according to the agency's own website, not $3.5 billion. The agency plans to spend $10.4 billion in budget year 2025 — which runs from Oct. 1, 2024 to Sept. 30, 2025 — according to a budget overview document. The amount the budget bill would add would be on top of the agency's annual base budget, which Trump proposed $11.2 billion for in budget year 2026."
The 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act ( IIRIRA) allows deportation without a judicial hearing through a process called expedited removal. Signed into law by Bill Clinton.
allows immigration officials to quickly deport certain noncitizens without a formal hearing before an immigration judge
"The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRAIRA) strengthened U.S. immigration laws, adding penalties for undocumented immigrants who commit crimes while in the United States or who stay in the U.S. for statutorily defined periods of time.
The Act was designed to improve border control by imposing criminal penalties for racketeering, alien smuggling, and the use or creation of fraudulent immigration-related documents and increasing interior enforcement by agencies charged with monitoring visa applications and visa abusers. The Act also allows for the deportation of undocumented immigrants who commit a misdemeanor or a felony.
The Act mandates that immigrants who are unlawfully present in the U.S. for 180 days but under 365 days must remain outside the United States for three years unless pardoned. If they remain in the United States for 365 days or more, they must stay outside the United States for ten years unless they obtain a waiver. However, if they return to the U.S. without the pardon, they must wait 10 years until they may apply for a waiver."
True I did take the number I found on Google, so it may not be 100% accurate. Still let's say the base budget is 10.5 billion a year, this new bill adds 45 billion over four years to spend how ICE pleases, 18 billion for additional border infrastructure, 21 billion for the verification integrity program, 14 billion to help coordinate ICE with other law enforcement agencies, and potentially 10 billion for administrative costs.
Let's assume that is all spent over 4 years since that is the timeline given for the slush fund, that is 37.5 billion per year, absolutely insane.
They violate due process by arresting people first and asking questions later, all while staying masked, and not properly identifying themselves. Also they have arrested and detained people for criticizing Israel, and sent legal residents to foreign prisons and obstructed him from returning home for months.
Shit they photoshopped MS-13 onto his knuckles to try and justify it.
