Yeah, that was more in line with my and most people’s reaction in the threads: “I’m not going to go out and campaign to get it done, but I am not going to save you if it passes either.” And largely for the same reasons. Yes, its true that goes against principles. Yes, it is true that would set the precedent. But we just spent the last 10 years (and especially the last 4 years) watching the Left throw out every principle and precedent in the name of raw power, even going so far as to declare Trump and his supporters domestic terrorist, and sick the Feds on them. And now that the shoe is on the other foot and all the doors they were warned not to open were thrown open and we were kicked while we were down just for good measure, they have the audacity to come to us and beg for mercy? Honestly, if anything I would say we have still been largely restrained compared to what they have done in the past, because I think a lot of the right realizing going full “Fuck it, I’m going in!” Would just ruin our reputation like it ruined theirs. So better to just go all in on the 80/20 issues and then work around the margin ones.

I've found my principles are surprisingly flexible when it comes to people who hate me and have historically gone against my principles. Especially when what they're doing is an insincere attempt at manipulation.

This is just the logical end use of red flag laws. They were warned that it would turn out this way but they either just assumed that their enemy would never stoop to their level or they were too stupid to realize that this could happen. They wanted the state to have the power to decide who is and isn't mentally ill, and who's allowed to have rights along that basis.

I would hope that they would learn from this experience, but I doubt it. The second their guy's back in charge they're going to back to the same old routine.
