Hi party people, I am Albanian from Tetovo but was raised in Germany. I visit usually a few times a year. Over the last c5 years I got to really enjoy the country as I perceived that the two ethnicities were more friendly with each other, Macedonians were really cool when I met them in shops, coffee shops, whatever. My feeling is that the climate has changed a lot over the last 12-18 months. Already last year, but especially this year.

I was in an electronics store and had questions, didn’t get any help and later very unfriendly. I complained at a restaurant that the dish wasn’t made well, got treated poorly and overheard them in the distance mentioning my ethnicity in a derogatory way, etc

It’s really uncomfortable and it feels like the country has made a huge step back in terms of society.

Am I just being unlucky? Or is it really the case? What’s your view?

Hi all Any specialty shops for coffee machines in Skopje? I would love to have a Sage Barista Pro or similar but I don’t like the choice at Neptune, Setec or Tehnomarkt.

I’m a solo female traveler who will be visiting Skopje for a second time and i wanted to check whether the Skopje Bus station is open in the early hours? My bus from Tirana arrives at 2am and I have to wait until 7am for my bus to Sofia. So just wanted to understand whether the bus station is open 24/7 and if it’s safe to stay there for few hours until my next bus arrives.

Hi everyone! I was living there for 1 year on the pipeline from OKTA to Thessaloniki in the year 2001. I was fortunate enough to stay for a few months along the towns from Gevgelija all the way to Skopje. We had several guys from Prdejci work with us the whole time. One of these guys moms always had ajvar and another dip/spread for us at all times. The other dip was with banana peppers (I believe roasted and peeled), feta, LOTS AND LOTS of garlic, olive oil and possibly lemon juice. It was a chunky spread (bigger pieces) and not smooth at all. I loved it and the country and the people.

I'm trying to find a direct bus from Skopje to Kotor on Sunday, May 25th, but I can't seem to find anything listed on the Skopje bus station website. Does anyone know if such a bus exists, or if there's another way to get there (maybe with a transfer in Podgorica or elsewhere)?
