I’m from Serbia and I’ve always been interested in living in Slovenia, but I’ve never been sure what it’s actually like. I’d like to hear your experiences, like is it safe? How’s the economy and the job market? Are salaries stable and living conditions decent?
Also, how’s everyday safety, are there thefts or sketchy situations? And what about freedom of speech and the media and do they give an accurate picture or exaggerate things?
I once visited Ljubljana and had an interesting experience. I was in a supermarket and wanted to ask the cashier something, but didn’t know how to say it in English. I tried in Serbian, and she understood me perfectly. I was pretty surprised because, honestly, I sometimes struggle to understand Slovenians. So I really couldn’t figure out how she could understand me speaking Serbian. She continued the conversation mixing some Slovenian and Serbian, which felt really natural. People in Slovenia are actually nice and welcoming, which I didn’t expect, because I always thought people from Western countries, including Slovenia, might not be very friendly toward Serbians.
I would also like to hear about daily life, healthcare, schools, and infrastructure. I’ve been thinking about studying at a university in Slovenia. Are they any good? How’s the quality of education, and is it worth studying there compared to other countries in the region? Any tips or personal experiences would be really helpful.
P.S. I know some of you might say “just search online,” but the thing is, I can’t really tell if the media is lying or not. That’s why I’m asking real people who actually live in Slovenia.
