Question Best spraycan for plastics?

I’m needing to spray a guitar pickup cover that is plastic and has some texture to it. Just wanting to see what the best products in market currently is for plastics? I’ve got my eyes on the Krylon Fusion All-In-One which claims that no priming or sanding is even needed. I’ve used Rust-Oleum 2x many times because it’s easily available, but I’m not sure if there are better options out there. Share your thoughts!

IMHO, the best for plastic is car primers such as Upol and spray can auto paints - they stick well. They are reasonably priced and easy to find im auto stores. Despite claims, I would still use a primer for well bonding and durability.

There are a dozen different primers for different kinds of plastic. What kind of plastic is it?

The right primer makes the difference here.

It’s PVC. I’ve got lots of Tamiya primer that I use for plastic model kits so I’m assuming that should also be suitable?

Plastic models are styrene.

There are tons of good primers for PVC though! Should be easy. And no, styrene and PVC are not nearly the same ^^

These are Gundam model kits though, as stated in their boxes, they’re normally ABS and Pla.

Still different, check stores. There are primers for ABS, for PVC and PLA. There might be one that covers 2 of them. I don't print so I don't know about the PLA.

Just trying to help man. You wanna try it out, do it.

I made and tested primers for the car industry.

Thank you! Appreciate your input. I’ll keep searching for PVC specific primers in spray can form to see if I can find any.

Would you mind naming the product you’re referring to so I can see if I can find the exact one in Australia? I’m assuming once the primer is “correct”, it should be less important which plastic-compatible paint is used right?
