Question Cracked paint, how to fix avoid?
Was helping brother painting some wheels and it cracked when spraying the clear coat. How should I go about it after I resend and spray the color again. I think I am going to need another clear instead of the krylon one I used.

Question Will glitter save these metallic tiger stripes?
I can't seem to get my distance, speed, and overlap technique down and have ended up with tiger stripes of varying sheens in my gold metallic door project (Rust-Oleum Metallic, Champagne Bronze). I did several coats last week, and am now re-coating again to try to even it out, but it keeps happening. I've gone through 6 cans already and have about 1.5 left, giving me one more coat available today.
The next stage is to coat heavily with gold glitter (Krylon Glitter Blast). I'm wondering if the glitter will obscure my tiger stripes, or whether they will still show through. Once I start the glitter there's no turning back so I don't want to move on prematurely, but at the same time I really need to get this door back on my bedroom and morale is declining.
What do y'all think? Will the glitter save me or do I need to buy more paint and keep trying to fix it?
I'm spraying from about 12 inches away, doing 3-inch passes at about 1 ft per second. I tried doing a "fog coat" of 16 inches last week but that resulted in lots of dry powder on the door afterwards, which I took to mean I was spraying from too far away.

Question what should i do?
Just spray painted my wheels, I think I accidentally put too much clear coat because they have this gritty uneven texture. I’m assuming the best way to fix it would be to sand it. what grit sandpaper should I use and should i add another light clear coat after I sand?

Question Paint is Sticky.
I bought some Rust Oleum flat black spray paint and for some reason it won't dry completely. I tried it on a couple test pieces of plastic to see if it works and it worked perfectly just the way I want it to, drying in about 20 minutes. But the moment I used it on my actual project, it just makes everything sticky and doesn't seem to dry. I sprayed it yesterday and it's still sticky. even when I tried to make a really light coat, it's sticky. On one of the test pieces of plastic I didn't even wait for the coats to dry in between and it still worked perfectly but now it's not. I'm using the same primer base coat so I don't know what else could affect it. Does anyone know if I can change anything to make it work?

Question Looking for a good colour match aerosol supplier in the UK
Can anyone recommend a good colour match aerosol supplier that I can order in the UK for small repairs? Over the years I’ve tried a few suppliers and they have all had their own issues.
Paint Nuts was always a poor finish, quite thick blobby paint that came out of the can for me.
Scoobies Paints have been good for me in the past with a good finish and perfect colour match. However, I always found there would be small contaminates in the paint.
WLW Auto Paints aerosol direct gloss has probably been my favourite, they have a good colour match and smooth finish but unfortunately they don’t have a website where I can confirm the colour match by reg which has left me with paints that are the wrong variation etc.
I’m looking for a website that can confirm the paint match through reg plate or vin number. I was looking into Central Paints as an option but was wondering if anyone had a supplier that they can recommend?
Thank you

Question Bumper turned out sparkly and uneven?
I used three coats of primer, three coats of orient blue metallic (the color on my car) and then three coats of clear coat. My bumper turned out sparkling while my car isn't, why is this and can i fix it? My bumper has darker spots but that's because I put an uneven amount of paint on.
The bumper is made out of ABS Plastic.
Any insights are very much appreciated!

Question Is there any effective way to mix paints?
So I've been working on a project recently and have hit a bit of a roadblock. I can't find the right color I want to use. But through buying 2 colors that are close, I found that one is too dark and one is too light. Lightbulb idea, I sprayed them both at the same time and it came out exactly how I want. But it also came out really splotchy and crappy in some areas.
So is there any way to effectively spray two cans and keep a consistent color across the whole project? I'm not sure I'll be able to freehand it without ruining the whole thing.

Question Matt finish spray comes out in lumps
Hi guys, total spray paint noob here.
I used a matte clear coat spray on one of my 3D printed models (painted with acrylics), and it worked perfectly the first time.
A few weeks later, when I tried to use the same can on another model, the spray started coming out in lumps instead of a fine mist.
I tried swapping the nozzle and even placed the can in a warm water bath (just in case the contents were thickened, though it never gets colder than ~20°C where I live), but both didnt help.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this, or is the can basically done for? Any insights on salvaging this would be helpful.

Question Metallic paint for silver metallic backed velvet ribbon
I have 3 rolls of silver metallic backed velvet ribbon. I would like to find a metallic color spray paint to add yellow tones to achieve a warmer color. I do not know what the fabric content is. I have had good luck in the past with changing a colored ribbon, but saturating it.
With this project, I would prefer a soft outcome like a platinum gold or champagne gold.
I understand that metallics are semi sheer (good I think?) If so that would let me build up the color as needed. I need a low oder. Im guessing an acrylic?
Can anyone suggest a few brands/colors that I can look at?
Or things to consider?
The edges are silver also but I can color it with a bit on my fingers afterwards.
I may mask off the velvet. Its a muted aqua.
I'll be doing a few tester pieces
Thanks in advance

Question Strange Request but looking for helpi
Hi, so got a question that might not be for you guys but i’m a bit lost so hoped you may be able to help.
We have a line marker machine that sprays aerosol cans onto our sports field for matches. For this to work we have a small plastic adapter that goes on the end of the can. remove the standard nozzle which comes with it and placing this on top instead. I’ve attached some pictures.
sorry the picture isn’t the most clear but the adapter basically has a split at the end for paint to come out but instead of being a small circle like a standard can, it is thin and wide. a little like a - sign.
This makes the paint come out thin and wide and then works as we put it into the machine on wheels, push it along and it sprays lines about 100mm wide, without this adapter the paint just sprays straight down and produces lines about half that width.
The issue i have is the place we purchased our paint from with these adapters has gone under and contacting all the major suppliers, they all either don’t sell them or some have them but will only sell them as a package wit the spray paint and these ones charge alot of money for their spray paint.
So i was hoping to buy them individually but ive hit a dead end on that through no end of googling.
so ive come here for help. I wonder if im not using the right search term to find these? either way if anyone could suggest somewhere i could buy them or an alternative that will do the same, i would massively appreciate it.
thanks in advance for any responses

Question White paint that allows light transmission
So I’m customizing headlights for vehicles and I’ve been using Rustoleum frost to paint the back of polycarbonate parts that have lights behind them, to give it a sort of diffused look, but I’d like to be able to give the part a beautiful solid, bright white finish while still allowing complete (most) light transmission. What should I be using? The image shows the kind of light transmission I’m talking about and the brightness of the white paint.

Question Rustoleum clear coat still tacky after almost a week
I have a painted metal water bottle and I don't want the paint to rub off, so I sprayed rust-oleum gloss clear on the bottle. One coat. It's been almost a week and it's still sticky when I touch it. As in, I can see my fingerprint. What did I do wrong and how can I fix it? I don't want to remove the spray paint because that will damage the underlying paint. How do I fix this and how can I coat a metal water bottle so the paint doesn't rub off?

Question Painting on Metal
My roommate is giving me her metal bed frame, its just from Amazon, but I want to paint it black but have never spray painted metal before. I’m wondering if anyone can give me any advice— do I need to sand it prior to painting/if so what grit? Or can I just use a primer or even go in straight with paint, and what kind of paint would be best for this? thank you!
