Popularity. Almost anything that becomes remotely popular has a high chance to get used as brainrot (or basically content farms) for views and such.

It was make sense, sprunkis too popular and got used as brainrot and content farms and also called those brainrot content farms a SPRUNKIGATE you know what elsagate do you?

It has all the elements for a brainrot content farm to parasitize it to hell. It's like stars aligned for them.

-Cartoonish, colorful cast of characters

-Simple, easy to replicate/animate designs

-Unsuspected hidden horror (plays into the "mascot horror" genre)

-Catchy, free-to-use beats and tunes

-Easily available assets (it was a scratch project)

-Almost no story, only a few loose canon points. Sprunkis are blank slates

-Its original creator had little to no online relevance so it won't fight back in any way, shape or form

TL;DR: It’s crack cocaine for kids that can be easily reproduced
