Stuck in Canada, the Prince appears to be missing?

Got into Canada, the Prince of Canada sent me up to see a guy that wanted some bears killed, I killed the bears, and he sent me back to the Prince. The Prince is not there in his castle, only his wife and a bunch of guards and the guy hawking photographs.

My last manual save is way way waaaaaaaaaaay back. Please help. :-)

next day update: Found a solution -- The Prince is actually there, just invisible! If you go and talk to the Princess, she'll say "Talk to the Prince", take a step to the left, and talk to the empty throne, and then he'll appear and start talking.

just updated the original post, it's not a blocker. I was able to complete the game today.
