Hey folks, will anyone be in Dushanbe who’s interested in doing a day trip to Iskanderkul Lake on either Sept 23rd or 24th?

I’m looking at doing this trip, where the costs are much lower for 2 or more people, and I’m on a longer solo trip in Central Asia. Feel free to DM me if you’re interested - please don’t send me spam.

Visit Dushenb? Advice needed

Hey everyone! I am backpacking in Central Asia and I've done Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand. I have 5 days free and I am hesitating between exploring further Uzbekistan (Kokand, Tashkent) or spend these in Tajikistan (Dushanbe and surroundings)

My purpose in this trip is to understand further Central Asia history, culture(s) and explore this super interesting region. A part of me wants to also understand Tajik culture but wonder if it is possible just with 5 days in Dushenb and surrounding cities.

What do you think between staying in Uzbekistan vs visiting Dushanbe & surroundings? Is it worth it?

Thanks 🙏

PS: budget is not a problem & I don't have a car

Edit: sorry for the misspell of the Dushanbe, can't modify the post title

Anonymous - Academic Questionnaire

Visa to visit

We received an email this morning from the Ministry telling us that our visa has been rejected. We are shocked. We have travelled more than 31 countries in the last 5 years. Most of the countries do not require visas for US citizen. We never had problem getting e-visas or regular visas. This is the first time we have been denied the visa without any reason given to us. All we wanted was to visit Tajikistan for 10 days while we are visiting 4 other neighboring countries. We are senior citizens not looking for work but checking out the country side, the culture and the food by spending $2500 or more. Someone suggested that we should try visiting the Tajikistan Embassy in person when we are in Tashkent. Do you think the embassy in Tashkent could be helpful especially when we don't speak Russian or the local languages. Ant advise and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

What is the the cost of taxi?

Hello. I am from Kyrgyzstan and planning to visit te Dushanbe in 29th of August (Friday). My friend is having wedding. I was curious about the taxi cost. So basically I will go there from Batken city. what is cost from border to Khidjand and from Khudjand to Dushanbe.

I'll be glad if you would even suggest the route (if mine is not good). Some people from Tajikistan said that it will cost me a lot as I am not local. I am tajik from Kyrgyzstan (I know a bit of tajik language, literally some words and sentences)

OTC drugs available in Tajikistan?

Hello there! Me and husband will travel to Tajikistan soon. I'm super excited and looking forward to explore the beauty and culture of this beautiful country.

My only concern is, I take couple of medications for my chronic back pain and panic attack disorder such as benzodiazpime and tramadol. Should I risk and take it from my home country or are any of these available OTC in Tajikistan?

Many thanks in advance!

Peanut allergy

I was invited on a trip to Tajikistan but I have a severe peanut allergy that is life threatening if ingested, but I can be around them just fine. I was wondering if I would be safe eating cuisine or if there are things that I should look out for if I go?
