Question Why did Kira Yukimura just disappear without closure?

Post image

She had a whole arc, powers, and potential... then boom, gone. Did the writers just forget about her?

Actress and writers had disagreements. She wanted a pay raise and they declined and she says on her YouTube channel that she filmed way more scenes then what was shown on TV but they were caught, like one fight scene? They treated her like a side character despite her being in the intro and arguably one of the mains. Season 5 was her last straw and she didn’t sign a contract for the next season and they wrote her off. You can find more info on her YouTube channel Arden Cho

She should have been apart of season 6 the first time we hear about the wild hunt is when her parents are telling her about it.

Literally. She has lightning powers and the villains have a relationship with lightning? That season was made for her. The showrunners fumbled hard

Would have loved to seen Kira give into the kitsune fully (what they’ve been worried about) to really take control of the storm and all that but nooooooooo we just had some weird generic ending to them tbh and they were my favorite villains beside the void

They had so much potential, especially after it was revealed in 6B that they held the Anuk Ite prisoner--what if they held other dangerous creatures too? What if they had a real motivation (e.g. eliminating dangerous creatures by removing entire towns)? What if eliminating them meant releasing innocents but also releasing monsters that would have committed horrors, making it necessary for the pack to either find another solution or to deal with the fallout? I love the Wild Hunt, they have so much potential that of course no one in the writing room ever cared to tap into or turn into a proper story even though it was right there

And ghost riders in the sky played ZERO TIMES not even a fun MTV remix. Jeff Davis is on my list

It was playing in my head the entire time

literally ☹️ in another universe her story got sm better and more complex and season six may have been decent 🙏🙏

I don’t think she wanted to go back anymore unfortunately. Loved her character too

Precisely! They granted her this detailed backstory and abilities, subsequently sidelined her as if she were merely a footnote in someone else's storyline. Visualize activating foxfire just to be benched by your writers - fairness for Kira ought to've begun in season 6, instead of a YouTube deep dive

Jeff Davis' talent lies in great ideas and not in actually writing storylines, imo.

He creates these interesting characters, and then it's like he almost gets bored of them, and then gets distracted by yet another new shiny character who will never get the screen time or arcs they deserve because the main cast can barely get that. The later seasons are less character driven, and plots move forward without much thought for the past.

There were also some rumours floating around about him being a less than fair showrunner. If Arden brought up wanting to be fairly paid back then I could see him not really caring to give much closure on her character.

Another Jeff Davis blunder

Common L for Jeff Davis

Short answer.. yes .

Also apparently they did not treat her well.. for example she had multiple scenes filmed that were cut but no one even told her they were cut and didn't find out till she watched the episodes..

Also, she wasn't being paid the same amount as her co workers which is why she wasn't in the movie.

But I feel they should have mentioned her or actually close up that storyline.

Racism. Arden and her character deserved better.

don't forget the side dish, misogyny

braeden was also used as a love interest and disposed of when she wasn't needed for that arc anymore, which sucks because she wasn't way more interesting as a mercenary than as derek's hookup

Very true! I liked Braeden as well.

Ya I liked Braeden.. im still not over Danny disappearing.. especially after we find out he knew about the supernatural. .. like they just left us like that..

Eh, shows have side characters, they can’t all be number one… there’s heaps of badass women in this show.

4

u/Bgo318 Jul 23 '25

Yes but the whole seasons arc was centered around her powers, her not being paid as a main for that is crazy.

I was responding to Braedyn not being around longer - she was fine just staying a side character and I don’t think her race had anything to do with it, she was never set up as a main.

I believe Kira should have been paid as much as Lydia or Derek. I don’t think she was the level of Scott, Stiles or Allison (season 1/2 Allison as by the time of her death she had become sidelined) if she wasn’t getting the equivalent of the second tier characters due to race that is absolutely disgusting. She is a huge talent and I was so excited to see her success in KPop Demon Hunters recently.

She had to join a K-pop group to fight demons

They did arden such a disservice tbh.

The show has big ideas but it severely lacks in execution.

2

u/StrikeRaid246 Jul 23 '25

Truly the Joan of Arc of television. Great ideas, poorly executed.

It's like that with everyone who left the show. Boom. They don't exist anymore. No mentions of anyone after they go -- Isaac, Jason, even Derek. It's one of the things that irks me about the series.

Kira suffered from a well known problem in the Teen Wolf tv show: introducing great character ideas, but having absolutely no idea how to develop them further. They had so many wonderful ideas but the executions were absolute dog shit.

She’s the one that pissed me off the most cause I loved the mythos around Kitsunes and their introduction on the show. I can still remember how loudly I screamed when the Berserker grabbed the chain and the Lightning Kitsune didn’t use her lightning.

Sadly, she wasn’t the only one who got this treatment. Lydia’s banshee, Parrish’s Hellhound, Malia’s Werecoyote, Kate’s Werejaguar and even Scott’s True Alpha.

I mean, she had closure. We know what happened to her and where she went. She went away to gain control of her kitsune side which they established could take a few hundred years with the skinwalkers. Was it good? No. But she was given closure.

3

u/Ok-Comedian-990 Jul 23 '25

She didn’t disappear! The skinshifters took her for eternity.

7

u/TryTwiceAsHard Jul 23 '25

Why do people say "no closure" she got more closure than most characters. They dropped her off with the Skinwalkers who said it would be years before she could control herself. Done. Closure. Not invited back next season.

2

u/Ok-Comedian-990 Jul 23 '25

She’s gonna be with them for enternity

2

u/eu_sou_shin Jul 23 '25

Kira is Malia, they were the characters that arrived and entered the series and it worked very well, Kira had incredible potential, powers and personality, I found her leaving a bit pointless and because the fear doctors messed with her without any purpose, that is, their main purpose was to revive the beast of Jevodan and they did everything they could to do that, but Kira was not used in this process, Kira only had a tail and the kitsune are powerful so that with each tail appearing they keep getting powerful, so I liked saying that she was a threat to everyone, but I think I should have found another way.

The actress, Arden Cho was fired

2

u/Michelle0207 Jul 24 '25

Why did Isaac? They just stopped writing for them

1

u/Aizza45 Jul 23 '25

Because she had to be the star of Kpop Demon Hunters!

1

u/TMxdori14 Jul 23 '25

I’m devastated about this

Not only did they abandoned her character, they also abandoned kitsunes in general. Kitsunes are unique and i loved learning about them and they added more badass to the storylines and finale showdowns! I also enjoyed that kiras fox side was overpowering and went dark (i love when shows go down that path). The girl they put in the movie had potential but they didn’t even try with her, would’ve loved to see Kira but Arden Cho was not interested.
