I think I would rather have the cuts than have Clarke or Bellamy glare at me.

It wouldn't just be Clarke and Bellamy. It would be all of Skaikru after they found out that you were the one that destroyed their only chance of survival. Not to mention Echo and Roan (your Grounder leaders) who just negotiated a place on the proverbial (literal) Ark. Not to mention Octavia who would have already killed you if she wasn't dead herself.
