Damn, Viren got me good with that illusion. I was so shocked that they would kill him off like that. That explains why Claudia was the one casting all the spells during the battle.

Shit you’re right - the whole time I was like “huh, he’s just gonna give her is brand new sunstaff, weird, ok”

Edit: he was sneakin up the mountain the whole time!

I like how he could have just had the illusion disappear after the battle was over, or had it run away to try to distract them for as long as possible, but instead he was like "Nah I'm gonna lie here under this fuckin blanket, and hopefully Ezran happens to come this way completely alone and gives me the chance to shank him".

Seriously though it was a little bit silly how they're literally like 10 feet away from a massive army, but nobody other than Soren showed up when Ezran yelled. In fact they really shouldn't have let the boy king wander around a battlefield all on his own in the first place.

oh man, I cracked up imagining Viren scheming this out now. I wonder at what point in battle his illusion decided to drop down and cover itself with a blanket LOL

Yeah, at first when I saw the blanket I thought "Oh wow, did Ezran just bump into some random soldier's corpse?" That would have been twisted, in a good way.

But no.

I seriously thought he tripped over a covered dead body and was going to be horrified.

I thought the implication was that it was Claudia's illusion, and she lured Ezran there for some reason.

It was Claudia's illusion not Viren's

I just realized if it was claudia's illusion does that mean she was willing to kill ezran

Can illusions kill? I believe it was just 3 moths with a magic hologram cloaking them.

For a minute i was so scared because i knew Viren was an illusion, but I kept thinking that it was Claudia as the illusion and Viren was the one holding the staff

Honestly I had a moment when Ez followed Claudia and found Viren under the sheet that I genuinely thought Viren had done a bodyswap with Claudia and she was under the sheet waking up in her father's body.

I totally believed it, since I could easily see Claudia taking his place after the grief of losing her father, by her brother's hands no less, finally drives her over the edge.

I had it spoiled for me, and I still thought Viren died because that would have been such a cool way to awaken a new villain who is a bit more grey than Viren (who I haven't found to be all that grey since the series premiere episode). I'm okay with it though, because I really like Aaravos and Viren's dynamic, and Claudia kind of annoys me. Regardless, I thought the scene was a good twist, though a bit of a cop-out. Worried, but also excited for how they'll handle the aftermath of Soren's decision.

I thought it was really him, but was worried that Aaravos was going to body jack Claudia.

Reality is often disappointing...

I actually really like Viren. He's fun to watch.

Oh, no I did too. I was quoting Thanos when he basically did the same thing to Gamora that he did to Soren. Had an illusion of himself that his child "killed".

Oh, haha. That joke went over my head.
