2) it felt very un-Ezran to suddenly be OK with personally leading an attack.

Lol especially when episodes ago he was "war iz bad mkay"

i mean he did look down from his dragon very sad at all of the casualties :( maybe it's representative of him being forced to make a choice.. and having to choose the lesser of two evils. although to be fair, ezran didn't support viren killing xadians, or having the other kingdoms attack katolis. but we never heard his opinion on stopping katolians (driven by dark magic).
