Returning MTG Mechanics
- Lesson - A mechanic originally from Strixhaven, a subtype on Sorceries and Instants that can be put into your hand from the sideboard if you use the Learn mechanic (notably Learn does not show up as an ability, so Lessons are just a card type here that is referenced by some cards, but they are backwards compatible with older Learn cards). Used in this set to represent the lessons characters learn over the course of their journey
- Ally - a creature type originating from Zendikar, this represents bringing together people from the four nations to work together.
- Shrines - a subtype of enchantments originating from Kamigawa, this represents the various shrines / temples the Gaang visit over their journey

WHITE LOTUS Recent News (SDCC) Recap + Reminders
I was on the fence about making one of these, in part because it overlaps with some existing FAQ pages not to mention other posts. But I figured it could be helpful for some to have all this info in one spot.
Recent Releases
- Before we get to news just a reminder that the latest avatar novel, City of Echoes (focusing on Jin, set during ATLA) released; discussion thread.
- Likewise around SDCC the ATLA S2 soundtrack released on streaming and vinyl.
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender (Animated film)
- As a reminder the movie hits theatres Oct 9, 2026
- Steven Yuen is voicing Zuko.
- Early Republic City will be a major location
- Director Lauren Montgomery states the movie will have a unique animation style “There is nothing that looks like this. It's 2D animation with these really beautiful, deep canvas environments...it's gonna blow you away”
Avatar Seven Havens (ASH)
- This show follows Avatar Pavi, the earth avatar after Korra. The show takes place after a cataclysmic event.
- ASH is set to release in 2027 but we don't have a more specific date or window.
- The first look image shows Pavi alongside her guardian/mentor Jae (an airbender), and monkey-cat Geet, in front of the city of Alora.
- Jeremy Zuckerman is returning to do the music
- Dee Bradley Baker (Appa, Naga, Tarlok, etc) is voicing Geet
- It will have a big mystery element concerning how the world became so different.
- For ASH Mike and Bryan "are not the showrunners day to day" because they are spread across different projects for the studio.
- ASH will be 2d but they mention how production is adapting to changing technology in the industry and there will be more CG.
- ASH is taking influence from Moebius and 90s anime series.
- The next LoK one-shot graphic novel will focus on a young Kya exploring the world for the first time.
- There will be a Kyoshi warriors comic mini-series. It is set during ATLA and will give names/personalities to the Kyoshi Warriors that left the island with Suki.
- Neither comic has a release date but presumably early 2026
- It was specified that the ATLA comics do really well on Webtoons.
- LoK comics are coming to webtoons but no specific date.
Other
- The second Roku novel, Awakening of Roku, revealed its cover. Releases Dec 30. The plot involves a plague threatening the NWT.
- Light it Up, the kids chapter book, takes place in the era of Avatar Szeto. Preview image. Releases Nov 18.
- Preview pages for ATLA Baking Book & Beasts of the Four Nations in the same twitter thread as above. But for the former it seems to be the same pages already on Amazon.
- Yue Magic the Gathering card shown, more info on MTG crossover will be unveiled August 12th
- The upcoming AAA RPG developed by Saber (codename "Ice Wars) will take place before the creation of the four nations and include backstory on the WT.

- Cover art for young readers book I am Sokka
- SDCC exclusive merch

Discussion Jeremy Zuckerman is an underrated genius
Very few soundtracks have ever moved me to tears the way the ATLA one does, particularly with songs like this. They’re just so atmospheric and ethereal, and really make you feel like you’re in another world

Discussion In TLOK S2, the writers depicted an abusive relationship where Korra used force and verbal abuse to intimidate Mako. Fans would then later point to Mako as the toxic one.

Discussion Am I dumb for just realizing the connection of her name being AZULa and her producing a BLUE flame when she firebends?
Or am I dumb for making this connection in the first place?

Discussion If Aang actually died here, what would’ve happened to the Fire Nation, the world, Zuko and the rest of the gang?
If Azula succeeded in actually killing Aang here while he was going into the Avatar state and Katara couldn’t bring him back, what would’ve been the consequences to the Fire Nation and the rest of the world in the future?
What would’ve happened to Zuko once he returned to his father’s graces and Azula didn’t have to worry about the avatar being alive.
Would Iroh have led the White Lotus during the comet to take down Ozai since there’s no more Avatar? Would Zuko still leave and go join Iroh instead of the gang?
What would’ve happened to the rest of the gang with Aang dead? Would they keep fighting or would they just go into hiding?

Discussion What do you think of Zuko's fever, personally? Was it just a fever or something more?
When I watched this as a kid I immediately thought the fever came on because of Zuko's inner battle/turmoil came into a culmination.
I read some posts and comments talking about this, most people see it that way too.
But, now as an adult I've started to gain a new perspective. That maybe we just added some additional layers into this scene, because that's how we wanted to view it. In either case, that part doesn't really matter, we each choose for ourselves the story we want to see.
Without getting too much off topic. This notion, that I've had as younger, but now focused more on as an adult. Maybe Zuko was already sick and with fever; his rage and "never giving up", all the pain inside him just kept him going, even when he was ready fall on the ground. Now that he's finally let go of all of that, he collapses to the ground.
Both interpretations work in this scene, there could be more ways to interpret, so please tell me if you have them. But, the latter one I talked about imo adds a lot more emotional weight to the situation; than just Zuko feeling the physical effects of his inner battle.
But, one doesn't need to exclude the other. Tell me how do you view this scene? Is it Zuko letting go of rage and feeling effects of ongoing fever, or is it something more? Something spiritual?

Question "I love Zuko more than I fear you"...
There is a detail that bothered me in that scene (The Boiling Rock, Part 2): Mai could simply have told Azula she wanted to save her father (instead of Zuko) and it would totally make sense, without provoking a fight, right? Why didn't she?
Unless she really wanted to end her friendship with Azula at this moment?
If Ty Lee didn't save her, she could have been burned to ashes.

Discussion Which Fire royal has the most blood on their hands?
Led by the genocidal royal family, the Fire Nation engaged in a genocidal war of conquest for 100 years. My question is which member of it do you think has the most blood on their hands for it? Ursa, Lu Ten, Ilah, Zuko, and Azula were all members, but I think it's safe to say they do have the most blood on their hands. That leaves us with four candidates:
Sozin: Firelord for the first 20 years of the war. Carried out the genocide of the Air Nomads and the initial invasion Earth Kingdom, along with raids on the Northern Water Tribe.
Azulon: Firelord for 75 years during the war, and possibly involved even before that. Likely expanded the war in the Earth Kingdom and carried out the genocide of the Southern Water Tribe.
Iroh: never Firelord, but Crown Prince and the Fire Nation's most prominent general for decades. Carried out campaigns in the Earth Kingdom and seen as the pride of the Fire Nation in his time as general.
Ozai: Firelord for the last five or six years of the war. Continued the policies of his predecessors.
Which of these men do you think was responsible for the most bloodshed and destruction?

Meme Don’t throw nets at these guys, it’s their one weakness
I know it a kid’s show and they can’t be more gruesome but nets? Really? Like tbh it kinda makes this whole scene kinda goofy lol
They are literally surrounded by ice, snow and water and they get foiled by nets?
