Everything you need to know about the event, all in one place. A lot of these pieces will be verified by the Silph Research Group, so throughout the post we'll use the formatting:

Bonuses

• New Costumed Pokemon debuts - Ivysaur/Venusaur wearing a party hat, Gimmighoul holding a 9th anniversary coin (s?)
• Debut of shiny Gimmighoul family
• Increased chance to become Lucky Friends

How so?

can't send costumed pokemon to home and if the special coin counts as a costume (i'm assuming it does) then people who are just hunting it for their shiny home dex/living dex will want to not get the costume version and if it's a mix and there's no way to isolate the non-costume it can be annoying (hopefully they will remain shiny possible after the event though so we can isolate hunt it)

yeah i'll be opening a coin bag every day of the event (two when it starts for me tomorrow morning) to hunt it as much as i can just in case they don't keep the shiny on afterwards

Because if you happen to get the shiny on a costume you can't transfer it to home. It would be nice if the methods to get the costume or non costume were consistent so hunters could specify which way they want to hunt.

From another thread it sounds like only the special costume one can be shiny.

This is not true btw. The first shiny Gimmighoul I caught during the event was non-costumed and I was able to transfer to home.

Edit: seeing elsewhere they may have been disabled inadvertently at the start of the event and then activated partway through. I did get my shiny on the first day of the event, but you may have been right at the very start.

I did a coin bag and got a shiny Gimmighoul, but I didn’t see any costume??? My daughter also got a shiny. 3 of us did coin bags but no costumes.

Costume one has a background. The coin itself is practically impossible to see. Check this thread

Ok I did google it and looked at mine. Cannot see a costume but if they so lol… 😜
