Megathread - Event Pokemon GO's 9th Anniversary Party Event Megathread

Everything you need to know about the event, all in one place. A lot of these pieces will be verified by the Silph Research Group, so throughout the post we'll use the formatting:

  • Italics: Reports from comments or single Research Group report
  • Bold: Multiple Research Group reports

Also note that (s) will be used for species whose shiny form is available, and (s?) for new shinies that we haven't seen yet.

Event Date: Tuesday, July 1, 10 am - Sunday, July 6, 2025, 8 pm local time

Bonuses

  • New Costumed Pokemon debuts - Ivysaur/Venusaur wearing a party hat, Gimmighoul holding a 9th anniversary coin (s?)
  • Debut of shiny Gimmighoul family
  • Increased chance to become Lucky Friends
  • Increased chance to get Lucky Pokemon from trades
  • Pokestops may turn gold without a Golden Lure Module
  • Increased chance of costumed Pikachu and Eevee (from raids)
  • Friendship levels will increase faster
  • Discovery party hats in the wild for rewards

Just to confirm, does the coin bag give the costume Gimmighoul?

yes it does, but not every one of them will have a costume

And can any of the gimmighoul be shiny?

From another thread it sounds like only the special costume one can be shiny. 

Edit: this was fixed later

This is not true btw. The first shiny Gimmighoul I caught during the event was non-costumed and I was able to transfer to home.

Edit: seeing elsewhere they may have been disabled inadvertently at the start of the event and then activated partway through. I did get my shiny on the first day of the event, but you may have been right at the very start.
