Megathread - Event Adventure Week Event Megathread
Everything you need to know about the event, all in one place. A lot of these pieces will be verified by the Silph Research Group, so throughout the post we'll use the formatting:

Apparently event field research all give boosted stardust (Staryu, Trubbish, Foongus) encounters! Stack em all up

Wonderful to hear. Too bad this event didn't take place before the 4x stardust event we just had. Oh well, will still try to get as many as possible for the next 3x stardust Community Day.

can you explain this? i’m not sure what the boosted stardust means or what stacking researches means (like keeping the mons in the reward, uncaught??)

The research rewards are mons that give high amounts of stardust (500 or more). If you complete the field research but don't catch the mon, the uncaught mon goes into your field research "stack". You can go through this stack at a later time, when there is a stardust catch bonus event, for example, such as certain spotlight hours, community days, or some other events. You can only stack up to 100 uncaught mons from field research.

I didnt know the limit is 100. Would you know what happens when you reach the limit, does it just stop you from stacking or do the game start deleting the earliest stack?

I give a berry to the encounter on the 'top' of the stack. That way if I check the stack after adding another and the pokemon with the berry is gone I know I've hit 100 and it's dropped off the top.
It would also work to remember the pokemon that's on the top of the stack but that's easy to miss if you have two duplicates in a row or forget what it is (likely if it's been a while).

Turns out there's biome everywhere. Apparently I have three or four biomes within walking distance.
WHT the game calls a biomes is much broader than you might expect.

I hope they changed it to any water because it would be pretty crappy to feature it in an event with a shiny debut and keep it only to beaches, which so many people don’t have access to.

It has been beaches only (which includes lake and river beaches and golf course sand traps). Need some confirmation if it's still that way.

I keep hearing mixed things about that. Some people say they do, and others say they don't. I kinda assume they did due to a decent amount of people saying that Wiglett does spawn at golf course sand traps.

It never included rivers or golf courses unless they were (incorrectly) marked as beaches.

Yeah.. i was hoping for quests to get Wigglet and/or Toedscool.
But no.. Not a single quest for them. And Wigglet being beaches only..

2 weeks ago, I was for 2 weeks in Crotia. Mostly at beaches.. I saw 3-4 wigglets..

Probably the worst Adventure Week ever. Adding something special to daily ADVENTURE incense, route or nests/parks would have made it better.

When it says Beaches and Water. Does that mean lakes, rivers, ponds? Because water can mean a lot of things.
Having such weird spawns at home. I'm in a town centre, but getting some forest, cities and mountain spawns.

I've tried all of that. It's about an hour by rail for me.
They explicitly said Beaches and Water, so they need to fix it.

I’ve noticed that the in game map doesn’t line up with the map on Campfire. There is a canal/pond near me that I assumed would have a water background biome, but I didn’t recall ever seeing one - turns out it’s not even registered as a body of water in the in game map. When you get there it’s just blank field.
I found a different pond further away with a stream running off from it. So I went there and again, the in game map didn’t show the stream existing, but Campfire does.
Is there somewhere I can report this? I find it odd that Campfire would recognise the streams and ponds, but then have them not show up in the actual game…
from a frustrated rural player who is desperate for a Wiglett (not even a shiny, I just really want one!)

Could be because the game only updates map data once every few years, and Campfire updates it more frequently

There’s a mini thread replying about tadbulb. I will say. I think for ultra league it just requires level 43 or something? It’s kind of awesome if it’s allowed to snowball. Just keep in mind we only have (maybe?) 2 weeks of ultra league available for the rest of the season. It’s almost “late” in the season, and if you are strapped for stardust, may want to hold off investing for ultra. (Tho I think you’ll get your dust back)

Walking by the river I had a load of dewspiders and inkays. Does this mean this area will spawn wiglets too? Or are they at the beach exclusively?

Wiglett spawns only at the OSM tags for beach and coastline. Your river may or may not have areas tagged like that

Look at the catching screen bg, if that's a beach one then it must be able to spawn one; if not check osm, it might still be able to spawn there

That’s not definitive because the OSM tag sand shows up as a beach background but it doesn’t spawn outside of beach/coastline tags which may be also tagged as sand but not necessarily.

My area must be sir mix a lot because i keep getting moutains/forest spawns. (I live in the forest biosphere) Not that i am complaining. It just funny to me.

Just walked by a river in my city hoping I'd find a wiglett and got my first toedscool instead. Also weirdly enough my apartment and workplace are both in the city next to parks and in both places 70% of spawns are from the mountain biome. Basically everywhere I've been today has been "mountains", except next to that one river. Biome-based events are weird.

Can someone let me know if the event spawns are taking up like 90% of all spawns?
Steels and Scales event took over like every spawn and I had a hard time finding the new rare evolution spawns

I'm not sure, but brace yourself... there are literally NO event gaps in ALL of August. They litterally run back to back to back with a few overlaps even... crazy.

I’m getting grass\forest and city spawns at the same time. Are city spawns the default and spawning in all biomes? I see other posts about them spawning around water.

Filtered down to forests and grasslands on overpass turbo and took a look at OSM. Ended up going to a national forest site. While toedscool would pop up on my nearby, unfortunately there was no Pokemon POI at the location so I couldn't find it. Ran incense alongside my walk for a bit but no dice. Going to try one of the other locations on overpass tomorrow.

I live in London which isn’t great for beaches or forests unless you’re willing to take a trek out to the city edges. Everyone on here is recommending OSM to check for beach or forest biomes, but I am not remotely understanding how it works or how to run queries. Just not working for me so I’m at a loss!
What a horrible event. It shouldn’t be this hard to track down new pokemon.

I can’t thank you enough for this!!!! This was the exact step-by-step guide I needed, and the queries worked perfectly.
And now I know there are tons of little forest biomes around to try, and even a sliver of a beach that may or may not actually have wiglet. Thanks again!!!!

Mine doesn't show anything either, but that's because there are literally zero eligible biomes. If I move the map to a different city, I can see a few spots.

Yes, worked. In other cities, forest or wood areas are marked as a spherical tree next to a conical one, but mine is only conical

That Toedscool query is not right. We have a ton of spawns at cementerys that your query don't shows. And by the amount of places it showes, anyone anywhere would have them in their nearby radar

For me, that returns forest areas... but not the spots I actually found Toedscool. Those areas aren't actually highlighted.

Anyone else missing the research once they completed it? Once I completed the free research and it didnt show up in my completed list, so I took a picture of the premium one for proof.
This is now the 3rd time this has happened to me. The first one was the yampers premium paw print research.
Cant wait to hear what excuses come from their garbage support team like last time.

The timed research for 1km, 2km etc hasn't been working for me. Adventure sync is on and I've managed to hatch eggs but this research just won't work

Can someone ELI5 how to use OSM to find Forests and Grasslands? I tried accessing the website and maybe I’m just dumb but I can’t find how to search for biomes, or even identify the type of biome for the location I’ve clicked. I know the tags are screwy so before I travel to a “forest” I’d like to somewhat confirm before going.
I know for Wiglett some people made maps that highlighted beaches, is there anything similar that’s been created?

I don't believe it does. My 2h walk with incense did not spawn either one of them.

I just encountered a Lucario!!! I think it's the first time I see one in the wild.
(and because I was not paying close attention, I just threw a regular ball, no berry and it ran away)

The event has started here already (AU). I just went for a 2h walk, mostly around parks and lakes, did not see a single wiglett or Toedscool. I saw plenty of the other spawns of those regions, so I know I was in the right area, but not a single wiglett or Toedscool.
So either they forgot to switch them on, or they're very rare.
