Discussion Raiding is RUINED

With the 200m raid joining "exploit" getting patched, raiding as we knew it has been ruined.

1) The raid ended in the overworld, but if you are in the lobby (120s) or if the battle has already started, you could do the raid no problem. Now if you try to heal your pokemon by exiting out to the lobby, or if they all faint, you'll get kicked

2) If you happened to be in the lobby when the boss dies, you would just automatically get to the "raid win" screen and get the encounter. Now, nothing happens automatically, okay, not the end of the world. But rejoin battle doesnt work either. The raid timer keeps counting down in the lobby, even though the raid has been defeated by other players, you think ok once it gets to 0 it will realize the raid has been won and give me the encounter. No, nothing happens. If the raid is over you don't even get the raid "rewards", much less the encounter. And you just wasted a pass and revives + potions.

And this is all in 3 raids. I was planning to go join my nearby community meetup around 2 pm to do atleast 30 raids, and do the active raid at my home gym in the meantime. This is a nightmare. Raiding is the thing I enjoy most and it has been ruined for me. Not to mention they keep recycling these origin forms with only a "chance" at the moves and apparently they are not even shiny boosted this time.

I wonder how long it will take for Niantic to see that they didnt do themselfes a favour with patching that slight gps-drift. They gain ten raidpasses less perday only from me because of that.

I personally hope they revert this change asap. The reduced raid radius doesn’t make sense, and you’re now forced to stay within the small radius of the gym until the boss is killed, just in case you faint or the app crashes. Groups can’t even start walking to the next raid after starting the first one.

Raiding is by far the most profitable thing in this game - why on earth would they reduce their capacity to make money off raiding??

After the raid starts you can move up to 240m for the extended range and you can rejoin, or anywhere if you don't have to rejoin without being kicked.

You have to be in 80m until the raid starts and you do the first damage.

I agree though that the change is terrible for raiding especially in summer when the events are more prominent.

u/twirlnumb Aug 10 '25

This is useful to know. Where do you get the info?

13

u/jason_the_slate Aug 10 '25

The 80m range for gyms is common knowledge, you can test it for yourself with gmaps/gearth.

The 240m rejoin range is the same range where the trick used to work before, and as I played around 2 years using that, I knew the specific spots you have to go for the gyms that were furthest from our meeting spot.

And then if you check on the map it's around 240, definitely less than 250 so it's probably exactly 240 to be 3 times the radius of the interact circle.

Same for the smallest circle, it's 40meters, where you can encounter Pokemons.

Others in our community have confirmed those numbers, it's not too hard to test, especially before with the glitch.

u/samfun Aug 10 '25

You don't have to be within 80m when the raid starts. I've tested it after the fix and it's well above 150m and likely still 240m

I have been kicked from the raid at least two times before it started due to drift after the fix. And it was specifically my cheap phone that drifts more often. Maybe it's inconsistent I don't know. I can test it some other time when I don't care about the raid mon.

I doubt they would revert the change to allow the glitch but maybe they could officially increase the radius

Also, there is obviously an optimal radius size or they’d just 10x the radius for “profit” and let you use raid passes on anything you can see and call it a day

u/FearTheOldData Aug 10 '25

I think you give too much merit to Niantic. They are just clueless imho

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut Aug 12 '25

It coincides with the upcoming max raid event, probably a means to stop people like me who commute snipe on the bus to join raids i Know i can beat, lower range means the timer will run out by the time i've passed the point of joining.

for starters 1 star raids should just give you the option to ready up straight away rather then messing around.

1

u/bloop-loop Aug 11 '25

The better way to increase profits is probably increasing the catch rate. I could've done way more raids if the catch circle was green like some other raid events.

Since the adventure effect move is so rare I did not want to just flee encounters, so throwing Premier Balls at low catch rates slowed down my ability to do more raids.

1

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut Aug 12 '25

Hell Ive had it golden razz and excellent curveball on every shot and the git still ran away.... others I missed the circle and didn't golden razz and it caught straight away, gotten to the point where I will throw a normal pinap berry until 5 balls remain then golden razz because I don't see the increased catch rate the golder razz supposedly provides half the time.

I couldn’t agree more. My community is raiding way less than they were now.

Hundreds of unused raid passes plus hundreds of remote raiders that would have joined these…

Granted, Lugia isn’t so desirable. Hoping that Niantic sees a huge deficit on Origin Raid day compared to their expectations.

60+ less raid passes will be used between myself and my partner, alone…

A bit dramatic much? I don’t see how these changes will affect 99% of players.

13

u/real_fyshi Aug 10 '25

These 99% of players don't matter to Niantic, it's the 1% whales who spent hundreds on passes every month, who now don't anymore. They will definitely notice a dramatic decrease in pass sales over the next few months.

Exactly! I used to do between 5 and 20 raids on a normal day. Raid days I'd do +50 with my gf each and major events we'd do over 200 in a day.

Since this "fix", I can no longer reach the 3 gyms around my house anymore. We have been going through multiple back to back heat waves and I have done 0 raids in the past 3 weeks because I rarely leave the house.

Today's raid day for Palkia and Dialga there was no way I was going out with 40 degrees (Celsius) so we both did 0 raids today. Plus, we have done 0 remote raids since the "fix", so way to go Niantic: I hope that brings you the extra income you thought you were missing out with this glitch. Yeah, because every green pass we used with this "glitch" is a remote lost. Idiots.

You can walk away as long as the raid timer isn't low.

If the raid is still active, and you get kicked, wait for the boss to be defeated. Then tap the gym and you will be taken to the catch screen.

u/East-Unit-3257 Aug 10 '25

Before today's raid day I skipped using even my free pass for almost 3 days in a row. I haven't raided a single Lugia either

4

u/sbenfsonwFFiF Aug 10 '25

I’m confused by people who say this because of the glitch being removed because isn’t actually going to the raid the whole point of the game?

Granted lugia isn’t that desirable but did you not leave your house for 3 days/would you not have walked or driven over to raid?

u/hidup_sihat Aug 10 '25

I live in apartment. There's 2 gym just outside interaction radius. When I open PoGo at home and there is raid at the gym, It so pain I have to go out of the house, take the elevator down, walk 20-30 meters, just to do the raid.

4

u/sbenfsonwFFiF Aug 10 '25

Same here, I’m on one and two just outside of radius

I’ll say I do think they should increase the radius but the glitch radius size was massive

I also leave the house all the time anyways so it’s not too bad to go down

-1

u/WollsockenVonOma Aug 10 '25

take the stairs and your life will be better with that change ;)

1

u/hidup_sihat Aug 11 '25

Haha I do go out to work and play every day. It's just a hassle when  I just want to do a quick raid when I'm at home. Otherwise I'll just use remote

0

u/kruddel Aug 11 '25

Plus the fitness boost of seeing someone open a raid lobby and rush out of your apartment, run down 4 flights of stairs, out the door and 30m down the block before 110 seconds elapses, or even less if everyone readies up early is going to boost your cardio.

1

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut Aug 12 '25

I mean not a wrong suggestion though, I mean walking down stairs, some studies have found it to be faster than the elevator, with the potential waiting time. If it's only 1 floor, stairs are faster to both ascend and descend even with a readily available elevator. appearently the idea is for most people.

The average is stairs is faster for 5 floors, BUT the lift becomes faster upwards of that because walking you start to see diminishing returns.

So the initial comment is both healty way of burning excess calories and improve cardio vascular health, and in some cases is faster than the elavator again depending on mitigating factors of course.

Now I think Niantic should introduce a daily remote raid pass, but thats because so many live in raural areas and the game is hard mode at that, and there are people that have serious mobility issues but love pokemon, the whole excluding people kinda a mean move.

9

u/candyhorse968 Aug 10 '25

Idk about the original commenter, but I personally don’t have a group to play with outside of scheduled meetups so if there’s nothing interesting and soloable on the days in between why bother?

4

u/sbenfsonwFFiF Aug 10 '25

Isn’t that the same without the glitches? Unless you’re saying about bunch of glitchers glitch to the same raid when they see others there, all while everybody sits at home

4

u/pkmdpoint Aug 10 '25

No, as a solo player I rely on inviting strangers through apps like Genie. The queues on genies for the hosts are usually 30/40 minutes long: staying at home, with the glitch, I could easily host while doing other things at home and waiting for the lobbies to fill up. Now there’s absolutely no way I’m waiting 40 minutes under a gym just for a raid. I stopped raiding all together: they’re missing all my green tickets and the remote ones of the people I was inviting.

0

u/candyhorse968 Aug 10 '25

My comment was about why someone might not use the free raid pass every day

-1

u/Thulack Aug 10 '25

Which has no bearing on the actual discussion.

0

u/BrightNooblar Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

You don't need a community to use the glitch. You can be sitting in the office or your apt/condo, see the raid pop 2 blocks away, and just keep an eye on it.

Maybe the people who started it are on a walk, or working in that building, or one dude with four phones. Doesn't matter to me, I can slip in and use my free/premium pass. Basically, it lets me be interested in the game and raiding while not actually out on a walk. Meaning M-Thursday I'm not just trying to hope for a 1-3 star raid at the end of my block to raid, and then otherwise getting one catch and one spin on those days.

-2

u/sbenfsonwFFiF Aug 11 '25

So while the community is out walking, you benefit from glitching without walking? No surprise they’re getting rid of it

1

u/BrightNooblar Aug 11 '25

Everyone could benefit from it. The sight distance is longer than people can reasonable traverse in time for a raid, even if they are already out walking. No more pulling up 30 seconds late after hoofing it down a city block only to catch the 'Do not walk' indicator.

Also, again, the point for me was not that it replaces walking. Its that it lets me engage with it on work days, or while I'm making dinner, or some other day that I don't have time to dedicate to walking.

Really, they should just 3-4x the radius for joining a raid/power spot, and then remote passes are for when there are major events going on and you can't make it to a meetup. No one is remote raiding a 3* raid anyways.

1

u/sbenfsonwFFiF Aug 11 '25

I agree it would be nice for the radius to be bigger, maybe by 50% more, though I think 3-4x is pretty excessive

9

u/MostPrestigiousCorgi Aug 10 '25

Imho the fix happened before the Dialga/Palkia/Shadow Kyogre to test the waters.

If earning worsen I guess we'll se some gym reworking in the next months, but tbh my hype for the game is quite gone.

3

u/Aromatic_Cold2681 Aug 10 '25

I’ve only done one raid since they made the change whereas before I would’ve done raids every single day including paid battle passes too. If I want to do 5 raids in a day, I don’t want to have to time up my walk perfectly or have to go in and out of the house 5 times in the day. Now it looks like the battle passes I bought are going to last me months to actually use

1

u/SilentKiller2809 South East Asia Aug 10 '25

Oh absolutely. On necrozma fusion raid day I managed to do 45+ raids in a community meetup. With it gone the maximum we can manage is like 35

They gain ten raidpasses less perday only from me because of that.

And that's why they don't have to fix any of these issues. People keep paying.
