Upon hearing the announcement yesterday the planning started. Mathed it out to ~300k xp per day after factoring in the 7 million in XP celebration bonuses (14m with lucky egg).
Managed to get the last 2 sandstorm gifts needed for the platinum villion medal today. One platinum to go before ticking over to 49.
Unfortunately it looks like completing 400 field research is the next closest platinum (unless I manage to find 85 XXL in the wild first!)
Went out for spotlight hour tonight and managed 1.5m, which gives me confidence that this will be possible! 27 million to go and 49 days left.
Based on the activity I've seen around the city and on my friends list I know I'm not alone here. Who else is attempting to finish leveling before the next patch?
For the XXL medal you could evolve any XXLs you have and it will count toward it, also if you have anyone to trade with if they trade you a XXL pokemon then it will also count toward it
I'm not above 40 yet but curious, do the XXLs I'm catching now count toward that? Is it a lifetime count or do you need to catch that many AFTER starting the task?
Same, I was at 550 at the announcement and in two days I've gotten to 810. Lechonk hour got me a little over 100 excellents just by quick catching. Thankfully psyduck and lechonk are easy to hit so I should hit 50 by this weekend! Keep at it, we are close!!
Yeah I've made 300 excellents since Friday, less than 50 excellents to go. Made sure to get my oldest best buddy shiny sunglasses blastoise ready for the level up screen! I think bidoof is spawning, that'd be a great 999th excellent throw for the level up
Snorlax is going to be a wild spawn during the kanto event, catching isn't required to count, just throw poké balls. Also when catching legendaries burn though some of your balls hitting excellents before using berries to up the count. Someone in my community did it in ~36 hours during max finally with all those max pokemon
Necrozma is great for it, too. Easy to consistently throw excellent and since catching odds are back to normal it's not rare for it to take 15+ throws.
Obviously wouldn't make that your main strategy for excellent throws since that can get real expensive real fast (though it would also come with a bunch of EXP), but if you're doing raids anyways it's a great additional source to skyrocket your count.
400 researches isn't that bad. My kid wanted to use their bottle cap on their shiney celebi which was expiring in 5 days. The only problem is she didn't have a shiny celebi yet and we had to crank out 100 research tasks in order to obtain it. We got it in 4 days putting in about an extra hour per day.
This will be a good memory for later. The satisfaction must have felt greater for achieving this. Was her Celebi hopefully not that bad as to not hypertrain that much?
It was a "rough" two star, so it definitely took time to get to perfect. We are almost there. A few more raids about 400 pokemon catches and 2 more candies earned by walking. It's harder now that they are in school again.
My friend is in similar boat, she just reached 47, has enough exp for 49 and is missing around 26 milion to 50. Worst part are 200 km walked with buddy and 999 excellents. Lucky trades and long distance trades, I got her back with this. Also, that 14 million exp with lucky egg is rather wishful thinking, after seeing some pages I guess even finishing this research in time will be rather tough.
Can't believe we are back to frantically evolving random 12-25 candy Pokemon with egg again lol.
I forgot what event, but if there's a friend's double xp and increased gift cap, I got 1/2 million xp every few days just from one lucky egg by opening it 10 minutes before midnight.
It is a lot, but making the most of those 7 mil is resource-intensive, so most people shouldn't count it as 14m exp, since that would require them to active an egg every step of the way, so something like 50 lucky eggs to fully capitalise on it since you don't get the EXP at once.
It would be interesting, though, to see when the big EXP that warrant using an egg on their own are incoming.
It gets progressively harder / more time consuming. For example, step 11 is:
Use 55 berries
Power up 6 times
Defeat 6 Go Rocket members
Explore 9 km
Spin 22 pokestops
All that for 30k XP.
We don't know what step 40-50 will be like (where the majority of XP are), but every one of those steps could require a multi-day effort. I don't think the majority of people will complete all 50 steps in 50 days.
Also, to get the full 14 million XP, you need 50 lucky eggs.
Sure! But you only have 50 days to do it, and if you need (hypothetically) 5 days for each of level 47-50 because the tasks could be "open 100 gifts" and "hatch 50 eggs" (nobody knows yet), then you should be doing 4-5 of these early pages per day now.
I can see a scenario where most players have only reached page 40, and have only earned 1 million XP because the other 6 million could be on page 40-50. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't count on getting the full 7 million XP from this task.
I started yesterday at level 48, with 50 million left to level 50. I need about a million per day. I was hoping the "free" 7 million from the research would help reduce how many catches I need, but the tasks are already getting crazy at just level 12/50. Guess I just need to hit 500 excellent throws a day, sigh
I’m 10 million from level 48, so don’t think I’ll make it. I hit 40 a week or so before that deadline back in the day so I’m sad I won’t be able to get there. Do we know if there will be a legacy 50 badge?
In terms of XP, I think the dynamax/ gigantamax raids will absolutely be your friend. For sure also make sure you are working on various friendships as well. Those two feel like the most efficient grind for XP
I doubt any of the Gigantamax events we will get by October 15th are going to be as crazy as this Eternatus weekend was.
But certain someone (me) was somehow able to pull out just shy of 10 million xp during the weekend.
I got at least 4 million XP last weekend and I wasn’t even really trying, mostly doing remote raids and whatnot. If I went into the city, it could’ve been much more.
I'm trying but realistically I doubt I'll reach 50 which kills my motivation to play the game since I was only working on lvl 50 to get the green jacket.
It’s ok to miss out, at the end of the day it’s just a game and not worth stressing over.
Also the jacket has been ruined and looks hideous on since they messed up our avatars in April last year. Most lvl 50s on my friends list (myself included) don‘t really wear it
It’s not just that, it’s too long and no longer fitted…. Because they lengthened all the torsos, shortened the legs. Looks like we’re wearing a mini dress or something 😓

I am. I was at level 43 stuck in GBL. I was trying to finish the in GBL. I went and spent 2 hours battling a friend instead. Now I somehow have to find 50 Go Rocket leaders, followed by 100 field research.
rookidee comm day on the 30th is probably your best short term target for the field research task. when half the stops or more are "catch 3 [comm day 'mon]" you can churn through them pretty quick
Presuming you have the XP you'll need to get 50 lucky Pokémon via trades in the future to go from 48 to 49, you can do that in approx 10 days trading 100 random Pokémon a day with a friend. Just be warned that's tedious to grind out like that, but can be done.
lvl 44 too. the field research are easy, the problem for me will be the leaders. I hit lvl. 44 this weekend so I'm only at 8 leaders. With ballons coming every 6 hours and needing to defeat 7 of them (the 7th is the leader), it takes almost 2 days for each leader. Gonna need to find them in the wild
Kanto event probably has Pikachu, can work towards catching 1000 of them.
Unsure how much of the walk one you have left, but could try that one with consistent walking.
Vivilion medal is just opening gifts from certain regions, you can add friends online from certain locations and pin/unpin every gift you get before opening them.
If you find some obscure gyms you can probably have them work towards the gym defender medal - though admittedly depends how many hours you need.
Berrying gym is similar, you can spam them into gyms at around 100 every 30 mins or so.
Evolve Pokemon can work.
Trading Pokemon can work also, as long as you have someone to trade with just trade as much as you can.
I'm at 92/176M for L50 and I've been playing since like 2017. I've got 37 platinum medals (assuming the ones for catching X Pokémon of each type count?), I could grind out a bunch of low level raids pretty quickly, but doubling 8 years of XP in like 7 weeks? I really just don't think it's in the cards for me. 80M dust in 50 days is just a little insane.
Throwing a hell of a lot of money at whatever Gigantamax days we get would be your best shot. An Eternatus rerun would halve the cost, but fat chance of that.
Is there any chance the "streamlining" that was teased will include remote lucky trades? That's my barrier to getting past Level 48, where I've been stuck. I have 100+ lucky friends in other countries. (I too want that L50 jacket!!)
Get yourself a willing friend to do the daily 100 trades and even better if either of you have older Pokémon in your accounts.
Took me 3 days to get those 50 luckys done with no guaranteed lucky trades included.

Thank you! I waited until the trade cost dropped during the Rookidee event and was able to do 5 lucky trades today. (Although what I'm gonna do with a lucky Clefairy with decent stats remains to be seen 🤭.)
8.8m into level 47 and pretty sure i wont make it but i work for amazon so if i get a good enough city route, i might be able to make a good dent into it with my go plus +. lucky that my gfs apartment is right on top of a stop so i can try and throw a lure down when im over and catch.
I'm level 49, need 27 million XP to get to 50, the 999 excellent throw task is something I'll achieve easily, I'm currently on 630 and that's after 2 weeks when I hit level 49. Its XP that's the big stumbling block for me, not sure I'll build up anywhere near enough
Based on the way they worded it yes, I guess we won't know until the final page comes out but based off of previous history and their wording I believe that's the case
You would need to have hours per day to devote to this. The tasks for that 7 million are already pretty bad and we are only 1/4 in. Send 36 gifts for page 12. That's like a whole month's worth for me normally, lol. Where can you find people who reliably open their gifts?
Your biggest hurdle is going to be the 999 excellent throws challenge, because how consistently you can get them depends on what's available at the time. I have been averaging about 30 a day before the spawns around me dry up.
It depends on your play style. For me my biggest hurdle is getting 50 lucky trades. I don't have someone to trade with regularly and people really only have time to trade with me if we get lucky friends, and many of my lucky friends are not contactable anymore for various reasons like they quit the local group chats.
Depends heavily on what's spawning. Big, close stuff like G Eggxecutor and Necrozma are great for farming excellents, but small, far away stuff like Sandygast is extremely difficult.
Hitting 48 tomorrow. I’m really planning on making a push as well. Don’t forget to save evolutions for next Tuesday. We’ll have to average a lot of excellent throws a day but what the heck. Let’s try and push for it haha.
I’m gonna try my best but deep down I know it’s not happening, I revisit this game every few years and have since launch so I’m way behind where I should be (34) I feel that if I go hard like you’re doing I can make it to maybe 45 but definitely not getting to 50 unless there’s some super bonuses that’ll boost me.
It might be that the 7 mill is spread out, it begins at 3.5k then 7k, 8k, 11.5k, 15k, 15k, 22k, 25.5k, 26.5k, 30k, 30k, at this point 200k exp has already been gained in 12 tasks, and as it increases every time (but not with a clear indicator), it may eventually be like only 1 million on the final task.
how llong are u guys playing to hit 50? ive been playing roughly two years at a casual pace and some events whale pace, and made it to 44. judging from comments no where near 50 but how long should it take?
There's no length of time because everyone plays differently. There are people who have played since day one and barely reached where you are now. Its about XP & the Level Tasks.
Also you get a "legacy 50" badge for getting to lvl50 before the change and special lvl50 pose as well.
It's similar deal as we had back in 2020 when lvl50 dropped and people before that date got legacy lvl40 badge and Gyarados hat accessory.
Now if you don't get to lvl50 you will miss out the lvl41 to lvl50 avatar items you didn't already have, and instead red lvl50 legacy badge, you get blue level badge corresponding to your level on the old system.
So for example if you were at lvl48 by the October 15th, then you missed out on lvl49 and lvl50 rewards and would get blue lvl48 badge even though due to the rebalancing of xp requirements and removal of the lvl41 to lvl50 tasks, you might be at lvl55 for example after the change.
You essentially need to earn 1,880,000 XP between now and October 15th. I asked ChatGPT prior to coming across your post since I'm slightly ahead of you.

I'm also lvl 48 at 24 million xp. I'm not even bothering to try to get to 49. Still only 4/50 on lucky trades and those four took basically all year. The pain of a dead local community.
Shame that isn't one of the tasks they decided to rewrite. If they dropped it to 10 (to match the distance task) maybe I could con somebody to get it to work. But 46 isn't worth the effort.
Yeah, I need 10 million XP to hit 49. Plus the 50 lucky trades. I figure if it starts to look like I might make it I'll grind it out. Just need to do about 1000 trades, lol.
Xp ain't the thing stopping me but the 35 platinum medals are I need 13 more in order to cross the levels... They could have reduced the 35 platinum medals too with the walk 25kms 8times

Good luck, and work on both platinum and you don't have to rush it. Collect XP on the way. The only "grind" for lvl 50 are the 999 Excellent Throws. I needed 20 days for this (but I wasn't rushed).
Task are dependent on how many stops you have. XXL and XXS are manageable if you evolve every you got, and it will help if you have someone to trade with because it doesn't matter how you get one, as mentioned form others
Have you seen the tasks? I mean maybe you can finish the page and not claim, but there’s no way you’re getting anything done on the next page in 30 min

I am trying to hit 46 this weekend so I can hit 47 during the raid day with the xp I have saved and I can get started on the walking tasks for 48. I'll then try and grind out 76m xp for 48-50. I think I can but ughhh, wish I had more time.
I also find increasing XP through Friendship Level remain the easiest way to farm XP. With 7 weeks to go before new level requirement, I will recommend you to find new friends and interact with them until you get Ultra Friend.
You'll get 4500 + 15000 + 75000 = 89000 XP per friend who reached Ultra Friend; add Lucky Egg especially when you get your 75k XP.
Lol im at the exact same spot as you. Level 48 with 27m exp into the level😂 I just need a couple of more lucky trades and 5 plat medals. So I’m 2/4 on the tasks.
I thought I had it bad being at 24.5 mil on level 49 . I really pushing hard to get there. Up to 25.6 today. I feel horrible about some of you guys who have been pushing hard from the beginning and won’t make it.
Good luck bro. I have almost exactly as much Xp, but I won’t be attempting it. Just too much. I’m sure it’s possible, and I believe in you, but it’s over for me. Sucks that after 9 years of trying, it’s not gonna happen.
I just hit 48 when they changed the walking requirement from 8 weeks to 2 weeks (I had already done 4 weeks). I am GRINDING XP to race to 50. I hit 48 two days ago and already finished all the challenges except the 50 lucky trades and sending the 500 gifts (Im halfway on both). Need roughly 49mil XP for 50. I will make it lol even if I have to die for it.
