I just realized Junior lied about having cable

TWO TIMES in the series there’s proof he didn’t have it. Once when little Bobby junior is at his house and whispers “dad he doesn’t even have cable!” And then again when Furio goes to watch “the Bloomberg” we hear his disappointed voice yelling “NO CABLE!”

And yet like a total stunad I fell for it when he told Angelo “I have cable”. Can you imagine the disgrace? Angelo died in the back of Phil’s Cadillac never knowing the truth.

I feel battered.

The irony in Christophers asking " Where's my Arc"

Christopher is shown countless chances to change course and change his life for the better and actually have his "arc". He knows the risks that the mafia life will lead him to prison or death, yet he still pledges loyalty to Tony, even saying he’ll go to hell for him. He complains that a character should have an arc, but he never lives one.

He starts a family but treats it as a prop, not a real commitment. He has near-death moments, like when he’s shot and dreams of hell, or when he realizes the mob he sacrificed for gives him no respect. He even has the chance to chase his real passion as a screenwriter, but the mafia life always pulls him back, as Chris just cant get rid of the irrability of dealing with the "regularness of life"

Christopher’s story is about decay. The Sopranos shows that people don’t always grow or redeem themselves. Life is not a fairytale, sometimes they rot in place. More people actually rot rather than progress in aspects of themselves, it's natural. Christopher doesn’t rise,he wastes away. His “arc” is a reverse arc.

[Meme] I want to see a show where Tony survives the Holsten's hit, goes into WitSec, becomes a Mob Youtuber, and retells the series in the most self-serving way possible.

"And so I says to Paulie, I says to him 'make sure Puss gets off that boat alive, we just wanna scare him outta town'. But that Paulie, he never fuckin' listened, shot him right there. It was dicked up."

"...And if I had used the sponsor of this video, BetterHelp, my uncle Jun never would have found out I was seein' a shrink. Cunnilingus and lack of access to discrete online counseling brought us to this."

Therapist Carmella saw (old man):”I think were your husband to turn himself in, read this book (crime & punishment) and reflect on his crimes everyday for 7 years in a cell he might be redeemed” …. Huh?

What the hell is this crazy man talking about?

He has no idea what Tony has done but somehow his prescription of reading this book + jail time will save him.

What kind of insane logic is this? What kind of a quack would seriously say this? Therapy is such a joke, a racket for the yews

[Quotes] …16 Czechoslovakians dead and was an interior decorator!

OMFG! This is awesome we are still active here, “The highway was jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive!”

I just finished rewatching for the 20-25th time. with the ability to watch anywhere now, I find myself starting a rewatch on the pooper - I use my DVD seasons as decorative bookends now.

My niece, 18 in 6 days, finally agreed to watch it now that she is transitioned from moody teen angst to artistic teen seriousness. Figure I’ll point her here for the deeper dives she will def explore.

[Serious Discussion Only] If there was a theoretical afterlife in the sopranos, do you think Adriana would’ve forgiven Chris for his role in her death?

Asking because despite the shit Christopher did to Adriana, whether it was beating her, killing her dog, and god knows all the other shit and abuse he put her through…Adriana always forgave Chris and continue to genuinely love him.

But do you think there was a limit to this forgiveness and that Adriana would have stopped caring for Chris if she knew about his part in her death? May sound like a stupid question but Adriana seems like the type of person to forgive Chris and think that he had no choice but to kill her, she might even blame herself for what happened by blaming herself for becoming a rat in the first place.

Jackie robbing the card game.

Silvio says that Jackie shot at 2 made guys, but there were 4 of them there- Gene, Christopher, Albert and Furio. So two of them probably didn't have the makings of a varsity made guy.

Ralph was asking for a pass for himself.

I go way back. I know people say Tony was giving Ralph the order without “giving the order” but I think Tony was intentionally not giving the order. This wasn’t a Carmine calling Tony situation. Tony wanted Ralph to think it was his responsibility.

Ralph tells Tony this sob story and says he wants to give Jackie a pass to try to get Tony to take the responsibility from him and give it to someone else.

I’m not saying Tony would allow Jackie to get a pass but giving Ralph the order would just make things easier for Ralph. Tony knows too much about the subconscious. He wants Ralph to think it’s his decision.

This I why Ralph procrastinates and tries to convince Sil and Paulie that he’s going to take care of it. Tony knew Ralph wouldn’t be able to live with that. Ralph only had one option but his punishment was not being able to blame anyone else.

Did anyone else notice how Tony and Phil mirror each other in Season 6? Spoiler

I was rewatching The Sopranos and noticed some striking parallels between Tony and Phil, especially in Season 6: Both are obsessed with respect and legacy but constantly put their families at risk. Both “survive” near-death moments (Tony’s coma, Phil’s heart attack) only to return to the same destructive patterns. Their crews grumble about their leadership, showing cracks in their control. Most chillingly, their deaths (or implied death for Tony) mirror each other: brutal, public, and witnessed by their loved ones. Phil gets crushed under an SUV with his wife and grandkids watching, and if Tony dies in Holsten’s, Carmela and A.J. would see him shot in the head, Meadow walking in just in time. It feels like David Chase set them up as foils, showing that no matter how “smart” or “modern” Tony thinks he is, he’s just repeating the same tragic cycle. Did anyone else catch this parallel?

Soprano Actors in other movies

Anyone ever noticed that if you spot one Soprano actor in a film, there's typically at least one more? The only actor who often stands alone is Joey Pants and Gandolfini obviously.

I just watched Money Train which has Janice and Big Puss in it. Absolutely bizarre.

When Sunshine gets blown away by Jackie Jr it's just hilarious, I burst out laughing every time I see that scene. Sunshine trolling Jackie and crew just pished them off so much.

Were Melfi and Junior parallel characters, or are they spiritually unrelated?

Something I was thinking about. To be clear, I don’t really have a theory here, more just want to hear what others think.

Melfi and Junior seem to be Tony’s primary sources of advice—even moreso than Sil, his actual consigliere.

In some ways, they combine to form one ultimate confidant. With Melfi he can talk about his feelings but not his work. With Junior he can talk about his work but not his feelings. Interestingly enough, with Carmella he can’t talk honestly about either.

But to keep the focus on Melfi and Junior… Whether or not they know it, they share a connection through Tony’s quest for answers. They are two of the rare people Tony doesn’t feel “above” and that he genuinely listens to. In some ways Junior and Melfi fill the same role in Tony’s life, but in other ways they are opposites, counterparts, or even competitors for Tony’s conscience.

Like I said I don’t have any grand point to make here. I just wanted to posit these questions and hopefully spark an interesting discussion:

Can you think of any instances where Junior and Melfi show notable parallels or inverses? What meaning do you think can be drawn from such instances? Do you think there’s anything unique about their connection? Or are they both simply cogs in the greater machine—the sketchy mosaic—that is Tony’s sphere of influence? Are they adversaries or do they really both want the same thing—for Tony to be a more functional adult? Is their connection spiritual? Or even supernatural?

Not necessarily looking for answers to all these questions, just curious to hear any and all theories and musings this community may have surrounding the relationship between these two specific characters.

I said my piece.

Blowing up Vesuvios right or wrong?

Serious answers only… was Tony wrong for blowing up Arties restaurant? I mean that hit was gonna happen regardless since Junior woulda just waited until the restaurant opened back up. So not only did Artie get the insurance money he also didn’t have to worry about a murder in his restaurant killing his business( no pun intended). Now I get it at the bbq Tony Sil and Paulie where gaslighting and manipulating like a mf. But still all in all was it the right thing to do or wrong?

I tried to kiss a girl but she doesn't want to. I need to step up my game, what's a good move?

I was thinking maybe I'll send her flowers and invite her on an expensive romantic vacation. Or, maybe, send somebody to her house in the middle of the night to secretly fix her car. She's a straight-laced professional lady, so I'm thinking the surprise mechanic thing is the way to go.

Forget Jesus Rossi. Forget Noah. That little shit Cossette was an ugly, whiny little abomination. Thank God she crawled under Chrissy for warmth and suffocated under there. In addition to Jimmy Altieri and Pussy, that white ball of pubes was one rat they forgot to whack.

As great and misunderstood as the ending is…..

I still think that it’s fairly flawed and that there were more interesting and subtle ways to end the show with ambiguity. Making the ending about whether Tony dies or not is honestly the most obvious thing they could have done and I don’t understand why people make it seem like it’s the most unique and creative thing they could of done. A far more interesting ending imo would of been for Tony to finally be arrested and was given the choice of flipping or spending the rest of his life in jail and THEN the screen turned to black before we hear his decision. It would add real ambiguity because we don't know if Tony is really dedicated to the life anymore and is willing to give up his freedom to a life he has grown to hate and is crumbling around him. Tony being killed like the other 90% of the characters just seems a bit too “conventional” for me to see at as particularly interesting. I also feel it would of done more for the underlying theme of the decline of mob, since in real life the mob was destroyed by increased law enforcement pressure rather than the mob just killing each other and wiping each other out. Tony’s ending being more mundane and realistic would of really added to the show’s identity of the mob being more mundane then media tends to portray it as.

Jackie Jr getting a pass

If he didn’t call Tony at his house and wake him up he probably gets a pass but Tony pushes Ralph in that direction because he didn’t get his 7 hours.

[Meme] Small fascination post

Just wanted to say, that every time I open this app, and see a recent post from this subreddit, I'm continuously astonished at the fact that this subreddit's still going strong with new posts.

Glad to see one of the best TV series out there still has (or is gaining?) traction. :)

[Serious Discussion Only] How would the DiMeo Family fare if Tony was killed when Uncle Junior shot him causing a new stable Boss to be named quickly?

Silvio wasn't able to handle the stress of being Boss, Junior was lost mentally, Tony if he was killed goes to spaghetti and meatball heaven, perhaps Vito could be named as Acting Boss, but once he's caught with another man in a club Jersey would be struggling again, maybe Christopher steps up as Boss.
