Bunny Colvin's Hopkins Interview
Dude doesn't blink an eye calling McNulty, "Bushy Top", but has a conniption during his job interview when the guy mentions he has to, "take a tinkle".
Disclaimer: This is my favorite show bar none, I just thought this was a little funny. I get that they're trying to show he was out of his comfort zone.

Is this a joke post? Grown-ass men do not say they are “taking a tinkle”.

And I didn't even realize this but someone reminded me that Lester says the same thing. Guess he's not a grown ass man

The Way Lester says it vs the guy at Hopkins also has different tones
see the Bunk/Jimmy "Fuck" Only Said scene

He’s making fun of an adult man using the word tinkle. Thats it. It doesn’t make him uncomfortable, it weirds him out

I meant he was more comfortable as a police. Not very excited/familiar with a job outside of that world.

Nah. He is at work with people he wants any amount of respect from. At that professional level one expects another to excuse himself, if they feel the urge. His need to explain it like his colleagues are five: that’s weird.

I just noticed earlier in the show, I really don't remember when, Lester is at the bar with Jimmy and Bunk and says "I have to take a tinkle." Very strange.

Talk between cops is one thing, but this is a Johns Hopkins administrator being way too comfortable with Bunny.

Fair point but Bunny doesn't strike me as the type to care about that. Seemed like they were trying to show him "unfamiliar" with not being a cop.

What’s your point? “Bushy top” and “having to take tinkle” aren’t in the same bracket at all.

You guys are oddly familiar with being able to grade these terms that are all pretty similarly juvenile to me

I know it’s been 20 years but it rewatched that season recently and it threw me how low the compensation for the cushy job was. Even going back that far it would seem like an a retired major from the pd would command a bit more

Hopkins doesn’t pay employees well unless you’re a doctor or nurse…The name Hopkins on your resume must be the added incentive cuz the pay aint it

IIRC, Colvin's pension plus the Hopkins job would've netted him around $152k in 2004 which is $257k in today's dollars. That's a very solid paycheck.

What's wrong with Bushy Top? I feel like I'm missing something. Going to look it up...

Nothing? I'm on a rewatch and just thought it was kinda funny he was even bothered by the tinkle comment.

Some of the people in this comment section are being a bit odd about such a mild observation.

Thank you for understanding what I was trying to say. Maybe I didn't communicate it perfectly, but I'm surprised so many people took it the wrong way?

Does anyone know who played the other guy in that scene? (İ assume the character was another retired cop)
