Another Rewatch Spoiler

There’s a lot to like about the series finale. But one thing in particular: 1. When Kima owns up to her part 2. When McNulty and Lester forgive her is just delightful

I was so gutted when they showed Duquan shooting up. The writing was on the wall when he was showing up to Mr. Prez for money and was looking in pretty rough shape, but I wanted it so bad to not be true. But its part of what makes the show so great. You see Bubs finding his way to sobriety while you see this 17 year old finally succumbing to the lifestyle that so many people get caught in regardless of how smart and promising they might be.

Brutal. There’s just a bit of hope he’s going to make it out.

I'm also in a rewatch, just arrived at where Bubbles is about to go to the clinic for his test results. His despair, briefly tinged in hope, struggling to find the power in himself to make the step across their threshold and then reaching out to his sponsor, already positive himself, to get that answer... it's heartbreaking.

He went through so much.

McNulty knew at that point it was just a matter of when the truth would come out, and would rather it come from a friend who could no longer sanction his buffoonery.

I agree though, it was a great little moment. They both knew there was no coming back from this, and knew Kima was good people.

They also knew they got off extremely lightly. As Lester says (paraphrasing) “if you think it needed doing, then it probably did”.

To be honest having written that, the comment is odd, he knows what they did was way beyond the pale.

When I first watched I was almost annoyed at Kima for turning them in, now that I’m no longer green I know she is far and away correct it what she did.

I felt similar at first: ‘doesn’t she see the impact this is having!’. But then realize that she does in fact see things correctly.
