Examples of sloppy writing.
I’m on my 11th ish watch. It’s the best thing ever yada yada……however….. it’s not perfect. 3 things come to mind for now;
1) s2 Jonny goes out to score some more dope to top off. He gets arrested. He’s in court for possession “to wit cocaine”. They’re defo tooting smack, not smoking rocks.
2) s1 the quality of the heroin is bad, string says we gonna spike it with some procaine or caffeine. Why would they spike heroin with caffeine which is a stimulant, or procaine, which is used to bash up coke.
3) S2 early doors when string re ups and it gets dropped in a bag in the print shop; he pulls out one small bag, maybe 1/4-1/2 kilo max. And it’s in a bag, like powder. Not a brick. Even if that bag was full to the brim with bricks of smack that’s only a few kg. These are meant to be big time drug dealers. That bag would last a day, even with all the bash.

You should tweet all this at David Simon, he loves to talk to the fans about their feedback on the show

It’s very typical for heroin addicts to use cocaine to come back up.
To give a weak package some kick, just like they said.
Congrats. You noticed the supply problem they had all season long.

1) I think it’s usually the other way round. Smoke rocks then toot smack to come down. Either way they were done for the night, dribbling and shit. No way he was out buying rocks.
2) it wont be the hill i die on, but I’m almost certain they’re discussing heroin in this scene, not coke.
3) come on man. One little bag of drugs to go round all Those drug dealers. If that’s all they could get they’re not really drug dealers are they. Are we saying it was intentional to highlight the drought?

If we are digging this deep to poke holes in the writing or realism you know the show is unbelievable.

The third one isn't even writing that's a prop issue if anything.

To be clear, i referenced it being a bag of powder to emphasised how little there was. It was like one briefcase sized bag that was clearly only half full. That is simply not enough raw product for the characters as portrayed.

That is still a problem with the prop bag of powder being used to represent raw product.

It’s the amount I have a problem with. It’s just easily identified as a small amount because it’s a powder. Ie not compressed. It could still be raw.

Just so you know, dealers did spike heroin with caffeine. It’s called a cut and today fentanyl is used because it’s cheap.

But Fent is an opiate. That Makes sense. Caffeine is a stimulant, completely the opposite. If you say you know for certain that dealers chopped caffeine in to heroin then I’ll believe you, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense on the surface.

Here we go for the eleventy millionth time about what's wrong with The Wire. It isn't a fucking documentary. It's not intended to be realistic to the point of being granular. Why can't we just enjoy the greatness?

Woah woah woah…..I’m on my 11th watch. It’s the best thing ever. I fucking love it. I’m just making some mental notes and decided to share them. 11 times in you are allowed to start peeling some layers I think.

It's the greatest show of all time but of all the many examples of bad writing, continuity errors, bad dialogue delivery you picked the most tedious and easily explainable ones.
