Does your local tiki bar(s) celebrate “Mai Tai Day” on August 30th?

A bit disappointed that my local tiki bar doesn’t really acknowledge or celebrate Mai Tai Day. They have a totally unrelated event planned for that day. Last year when I went for a drink, the bar tender disagreed that it was even that day.

I can’t complain too much because for having a tiki bar local to me, I probably don’t go as often as I should. And at the end of the day, they have to promote events as they see fit to keep people coming back.

Does your local tiki bar do anything to celebrate on August 30th?

Much of the Internet celebrated Mai Tai Day on June 30th until very recently. The official food and drink day website finally changed it to August 30th this year.

Ah yes this has been a subject of some debate in recent years and of course most days are celebrating Mai Tai’s here lol I swear it seems like one comes up every quarter “Mai Tai day”. I don’t mind celebrating it anytime someone says it’s Mai tai day though honestly.

Me either the closest one is 2 hours away and 2 drinks is enough that I shouldn’t drive so I have to enlist my wife, which is quite difficult.

Trader Vic's says Mai Tai Day is August 30th. ("In 2009, a proclamation was made naming August 30th the official Mai Tai Day in the city of its birth, Oakland California.") But previously, it had been celebrated on June 30th.

You can never celebrate too much!

June 30 was one of those made up cocktail holidays. Mai Tai Day has actual legitimacy.

Holmes Cay is working with a bunch of bars to highlight their new Martinique in Mai Tais this Saturday.

Nice list of bars participating. Looks like I'll be over at Raised by Wolves. :)

I’ll DM you if you actually care to know, but I’m not trying to name and shame them or put them on blast. I still think the people running the bar are genuinely good and nice people for the most part. Just wish there was more tiki and less other non-tiki stuff.
