Other Does the manga get more subtle?
Bought both the box sets because I was pretty sure I would love TG. After one volume I can say I'm really enjoying it so far, I like how kaneki being a half ghoul is at least to start more of a curse than a power boost like every shounen.
I'm wondering though, do the themes and everything become more subtle? Right now pretty much everything is in my face. I'm talking about how they keep mentioning how ghouls can't eat food every time one of them eats food, or keneki continually talking about how he doesn't belong as a human or ghoul. I'm pretty sure TG is considered seinen but it's really pushing the story as if it were a shounen if that makes sense.
Idk just an observation not really a complaint.

Most parts will, some don't
TG will have a LOT of meta subtext to analyze and explore, you don't need to worry about that. If anything it even has a little too much exclusively written between the lines if anything and not the other way around- If you ever get into the rabbit hole of reading metas form back in the day you'll see no end to it
Now some of the main points like that really are heavy handed, especially early onw
