Cool finds today for $18 American. I’m currently putting together a pennant wall in my home, so this was a perfect addition! You can occasionally find some neat stuff around town from the days of being a Toronto affiliate in AAA. Wish it still was!

I'm just curious but I think in the early to mid 2000s (around 03-06 I think) there was a giveaway for cordless phones everytime a jays player hit a home. This was several years ago. Does anyone know how many years this promo was going on for? And was there something else given for a grand slam or if the same player hit multiple home runs in the sam game?

Also I didn't follow the jays prior to 2003, was this avaliable before that as well?

This output has been balanced, of course, by the terrific performances of Bo, Vladdy, France to some extent, and others, and of course we are still in first place, so I am not evincing the questioning of our team that is regarded as a thoughtcrime in this sub. I also am well aware of the debate over platooning Clement; the loss of his defense and energy are real loses, such that I have favored him as a fulltime player, but he has not improved against RHP, and when the facts develop one's opinion should also.

While I have generally appreciated the approach of giving this core group the confidence implied by steady playing time, with the exception of Gimenez these guys are all newer to MLB and may just be getting worn down. While this might strike some as obvious, but has the case for more aggressive platooning and rest days grown stronger?

Been researching what Bieber's next contract might look like. This discussion ignores which team he signs with and focuses purely on term, AAV, structure, and market and comparables.

I looked at the potential free agent class and saw Buehler, Cole, Sale, Bassit, Giolito, Flaherty, Gallen, Valdez as possibly competing with Bieber depending on if some of these players opt out, or their teams pick up their options, as well as performance etc.

Bieber likely goes one of 3 directions: the long-term cash in ace deal. Though the recent inflation of contracts at the top end might skew this, I doubt he would get a Cole or Strasburg type deal considering his recent injury history. I doubt even Fried, Burnes, or degrom money no matter how well he does. He might get the bet on talent, established veteran ace deal that someone like Gausman or rodon or Robbie Ray would also be comparable. 4-7 years with an AAV of 22-30mil, potentially with an opt out in a year or 3.

The bet on themselves contract. If their performance isn't enough to nab them that big payday, Bieber might go for something of a prove it deal. HIgher AAV but shorter term, with opt outs a key feature. Think Eovladi, Sale, Verlander and Scherzer with the Mets, Trevor Bauer. 1-3 year deals with an opt out after year 1 and/or a player optiom with an AAV of 20-35mil

If he doesn't perform well, the stuff looks mediocre, he isn't consistent, isn't a positive factor in the playoffs or god forbid gets another injury issue, then perhaps we are looking at beuhler, flaherty, Severino, Syndergaard before he was completely washed, current Scherzer or Verlander, montas, or Erod. Rebuild value type contracts. 1 or 2 years at 1-20mil, mbe a club option

I imagine a lot of those top of the market arms will resign, using their opt outs or players options as leverage. Bieber could be among the top 3-5 options teams are looking at for elite pitching. Also, he's not tied to draft compensation since the Jays can't send him a qualifying offer. I think he pitches well down the stretch, enough to encourage teams to gamble they get Bieber the ace or something close to it. He accepts a 5 or 6 year deal worth 120-150mil with an opt out after year 2 or 3 and a club option or 2 attached. Or he signs a 2-3 year deal worth 50-80mil with a year 1 opt out and a player option. He's gonna get at least 15-20mil AAV and 3 years, as long as he stays healthy really. I sense creative contract structures unless he really is lights out down the stretch and someone gives him 150mil plus.

I think that if anyone were to leave the rotation, it would have to be Berrios or Bassit as they have been the most inconsistent during the season (assuming Bieber can keep consistently providing quality starts).

Bassitt specially always seemed to be a "team first" kind of guy so I think he could be convinced to be a long reliever for the post season..
