TP-Link - Technical Support Archer C2300 V1 EU - need old firmware (2.0.3)

Upvotes

5-6 years ago I bought an Archer C2300 (V1, EU version). It's been on the 2.0.3 firmware (from 2018) for ages. I made the mistake of upgrading the firmware (directly from the TP-Link control panel). It upgraded itself to 2.0.4 (from 2021). I then upgraded it (once again from the control panel) to 2.0.7. Since then the WiFi connection starts choking some time after rebooting (sometimes it's one day, sometimes five days). It chokes to the point I can't even load the control panel, sometimes it takes 30 seconds to load it. Wired connection still works fine - I tested pings and loading the control panel both via WiFi and via an ethernet cable connected to the router. Only router reboot helps. I've never had this issue since I bought it 5-6 years ago, so I'm blaming the newer firmware.

I downloaded the 2.0.4 firmware from the support site and downgraded to it but the issue persists. So I'd like to try downgrading to 2.0.3 but there's no download on the support site for that version. Any ideas where I can get it?

(good ol "if it works, don't touch it"...)

TP-Link - Technical Support Tplink Deco and Kasa

I’ll admit I don’t spend a lot time worrying about my home infrastructure, I’m a “I want it to work and leave me alone”. But this issue is driving me nuts. So I have two locations, one has a tplink router and there is an app for that, I have a deco tp mesh system at the other location and their Kasa smart WiFi plugs. For some reason they have three separate applications, ok I can live with that. But why do they have to have different passwords? I use apple passwords as my password manager. So if I load up an Tplink app, the password is always wrong, because it belongs to one of the other 2 Tplink apps. So I go and change it, and then the other one no longer works. I’m about to conclude that I shouldn’t purchase Tplink products because they all require different passwords.

Is there a solution that I’m missing, thanks in advance.

TP-Link - Technical Support HELP IN HOTEL PLEASE

Hello, how are you?

I have a TP-Link ER707-M2 and nine TP-Link EAP610 access points in a hotel.

The problem is that I limit the speed per client to a maximum of 4 megabytes, since 100 users can connect at once, and a maximum of 150.

Whereas a few months ago, Unifi worked perfectly, they were replaced due to age. Now, TP-Links have a lot of latency; the signal is good, but the speed isn't.

It can take 30 seconds to send a WhatsApp message, or a minute to send a video.

I disabled all options on the router, including bandwidth control, and only set a dchp from 10 to 220 if I remember correctly on the router, I have access points from IP 2 to 10

The fiber has 1000 megabytes.

Any ideas or suggestions?

It's been around for some years and we got a new router after issues with my old one. I don't know why even after switching outlets it just turns off and looks like that. I don't think it's damaged and it was flashing earlier when I unplugged and replugged it back in, help much needed

TP-Link - Technical Support Restoring backup on new router?

Hello All -

I'm considering upgrading from TP-Link AX1500 to the TP-Link BE3600 but am hesitant because the amount of time required to reconfigure unless...

Is it possible to just restore my AX1500 backup to the new BE3600 to port over my complete configuration?

Separately does anyone out there own a BE3600? are there issues that I have to look out for or is it as good as it sounds? They're selling them locally and on amazon at decent prices.

TP-Link - General Tp-link BE550

Anyone here using a desk stand or external fan to keep the TP-Link BE550 cool? Mine gets a bit warm and I’m wondering if a small USB desk fan pointed at it actually helps. Curious if anyone has tried different stands or cooling setups for this router

TP-Link - General Pay the price for wifi 7 or save money with 6e

Hi there,

I’m sorry if this has been asked before, but I need the experts in this subreddit to help me decide.

Is wifi 7 worth it today? I need a mesh network at home and I could get the Deco BE65 for about $200 more than the XE75 (non-pro).

I don’t have wifi 7 clients right now but, do you guys think it’s worth it to buy the BE65 now to future proof my mesh and not have to buy new devices in the future?

Or should I wait and buy the wifi 7 Deco when I actually need it (possibly in a few years and I guess there will be new wifi 7 decos out there?)

Thanks everyone.

TP-Link - General Tapo C120 led light

Hello, just bought a pack of two tapp C120 from Costco. They look pretty goof so far for the price. 70$CAN for a pack of twos

I have a question tho, I can’t seem to find how to active the two leds on the camera by motion detection. I can open them manually in the app for a certain amount of time but i would like them to open when it detects a movement.

Is it possible to do so? Thanks!

TP-Link - General Any new Deco Mesh support 20hmz 2.4ghz?

As the title says really, up until recently I'd not realised that why I've been having intermittent issues with my tapo cameras was probably my X50 units not supporting 20mhz bandwidth.

So does anyone know if any of the newer ones support it?

Tia

TP-Link - Technical Support TL-SG108E shows up as offline in Linksys Velop DHCP client list

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently connected a TP-Link 8 Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch (TL-SG108E) to my Linksys Velop router. The plan is to split ethernet in order to set up mesh WiFi nodes.

The switch does show up in the Velop DHCP client list, but it’s always marked as offline. Not sure if that’s normal behavior for a managed switch, or if something’s wrong with my setup.

Do I need to configure something on the TL-SG108E side, or should it just work plug-and-play with Velop? And if I do need to configure it, how exactly should I go about it?

Any advice or experience with this combo would be really helpful.

TP-Link - Technical Support Slow Wifi when LAN device is being used.

As the title says really. Upgraded my internet plan the other day to a 500mbps FTTP plan, which works perfectly fine on my partners and mine iPhones (currently running newest software) when no other devices are connected.

But as soon as TV (streaming) or PS5 get turned on, which are being used with LAN cables, the internet speed drops to below 5mbps and almost unusable on our iPhones. Having to turn wifi off and use data.

Currently using ARCHER AX55 router, which is fully updated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I go and buy a new router.

TP-Link - Technical Support My internet download speed capped at 110mbps all of a sudden - TL-WR1502X -AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 Portable Router - Router Mode

Hello Tech People!

Tech Spec: TL-WR1502X -AX1500 Wi-Fi 6 Portable Router - Router Mode. Laptop has Wifi 7. Connected on 5Ghz and in small room (student).

Issue: Let me get it straight, All of a sudden yesterday morning my download speed started to cap/lock in at lower speeds from 800+mbps.

Troubleshoot I did:

  • I checked my Cat 6E Ethernet cable by connecting it directly to my laptop and I get 1-1.2gbps Download speed, so which means Ethernet is fine.
  • Then I tried resetting router to default and I got same result.
  • I asked chatgpt and perplexity ai for solution and It suggested me on changing Internet Port Negotiation Speed Setting from Auto to 1000 full duplex setting.
  • I tried to contact customer support but only bot is answering and not solving my issue.

This router I bought it from India 1 month ago on amazon. And it claimed to have high speeds.
I have attached speed test from various sites for greater analysis. They show different but either of them prove that this is giving high speed and shows proof of speed being capped.

TP-Link - Technical Support Issues with this setup/extender

Post image
2 Upvotes

I purchased the two pictured devices 'almost' a year ago. The router is up in my office, and the extender is down in the guest room which is 2 floors directly below. Stationary devices seem to work pretty well with this setup. I never have wifi issues with any devices in the upper part of the house, and very rarely have issues with devices in the lower part (closer to the extender). However devices that move around the house (phones) get really messed up sometimes.

Pretty frequently (1-2x per day) when in the middle or bottom sections of the house, phones will seemingly get confused about which to connect to, and won't be able to connect to the internet (wifi will still show as connected, just nothing will load). Usually either forcing it to connect to the 6ghz band, or just resetting the connection, will fix it, but it's very annoying and definitely doesn't seem like one seamless network around the house. Sometimes as well I'll be in the bottom half of the house, and my phone will show a very weak wifi signal, implying to me that it's still connected to the router up in the office and not receiving the extended wifi from the (much closer) extender.

I know there is now a wifi 7 range extender by TP-Link. I don't believe this was out when I purchased these, otherwise I would have wanted that. It's expensive though, so I wanted to check here to see if there's anything else that may be wrong before I splurge on something else to try to fix this problem. Anyone have any advice?

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco X55 issues

My X55 mesh network suddenly won’t let me choose channels or band usage for 2.4 or 5ghz networks. How do I fix this?

I’ve been on the current 1.6.7 for some time and I’ve made no changes to the config. Very confusing.

TP-Link - Technical Support C520WS (Outdoor) and a C210P2 (Indoor) Camera and need to reset

I have a TP-Link Tapo C520WS (Outdoor) and a C210P2 (Indoor) camera setup but I need to change the wifi network. I heard you have to use a pin and factory reset the camera. Is there anyway around this? I am out of the country plus the outdoor camera is mounted very high and I'll have to get an aerial lift to go up and reset that pinhole button. Is there anyway I can swap the networks?? I can get someone to go over there and change the settings on the phone but not the pinhole method.

I only have wep 2 security as I read this could been the issue but nope not any of that works

If I turn the wifi on my router on they will connect to that but not to the X20 before I send them back I'm wondering am I missing anything.

TP-Link - General Any quality-of-life differences between the C420 and C425 cameras?

Looking at dabbling in some light home security after a brutally failed attempt at Telus home security. These two cameras piqued my interest due to ease of install and quality vs price.

I have some questions that a few hours of googling has been unable to solve, and I'm hoping someone here maybe has experience with both of them that can add some personal insight, or even a representative pop in to answer some questions.

. Is the battery life comparable between the two?

. do they have the same sensors and lenses or is the 425 updated/improved? how is the image quality between the two, a clear winner or negligible difference?

. do they both have the same night vision capabilities?

. the c425 doesn't need a hub, so how is the reception? I live in a very old (1930s) 1.5 story house, that I had to put tp-links own deco system into just to get internet upstairs. I have a dedicated network set up to wirelessly stream VR, I would likely put the camera on this, but it would need to have decent range to be able to get it as the router is on the opposite side of the house from where the camera needs to be.

. do the cameras begin recording immediately upon motion detection? My property is laid out strange, and has very little distance between the driveway and the road, where I intend to put the camera would allow about 3 seconds between entering the property and leaving the cameras view, if trespassers were walking at a "normal" pace.

Thank you!

TP-Link - General Easy mesh Extension

Hi everyone!

I have recently moved into a house with more people (8 from 2), and have brought my wifi modem with me, an AX55

There are ethernet ports upstairs, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be best served by upgrading the main modem to something like an AX73 and using the AX55 as a satellite router, or by getting a dedicated access point.

Two storey house, 8 people, gigabit fibre connection if those details help. I think there's a metal strut in the house to facilitate the open plan downstairs which could be affecting the signal. The modem is currently sitting in the furthest corner of the garage.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

TP-Link - General Will TPLink invest in matter over thread?

I'm just starting my smart home journey and everyone seems to say matter-over-thread is superior. However, the companies that focus on it have pretty terrible reviews (even Aqara & Nanoleaf have <2 stars on trustpilot). Ive used Deco's for a while and I am super happy that they are matter compatible, but I am worried about clogging my wifi up as all their devices seem to be matter over wifi.

Is there any intention for TpLink to release devices on matter over thread?
