I wrote this piece after revisiting George Catlin's paintings of Native Americans. Catlin noticed that breath governed health long before modern science caught up.What struck me wis how little this understanding has entered medicine today. I'm interested in whether others see his art as just portraiture or as a record of functional physiology and composure.
