This long piece of investigative journalism is about how J.P. Morgan Chase enabled Jeffrey Epstein.

It is, at bottom, an account of how great concentrated wealth has the power to keep its advantage because it can’t be held accountable in real time, despite the law.

After the fact, if there’s a price to be paid at all, it’s tiny compared to what Chase gained through secret transactions that smacked of criminal intent.

From the article:

Late that year, the bank did something it should have been doing all along: It filed a report with federal regulators that retroactively flagged as suspicious some 4,700 Epstein transactions — totaling more than $1.1 billion and including hundreds of millions of dollars in payments to Russian banks and young Eastern European women who were brought to the United States…

The fallout for JPMorgan has been limited. In 2023, it paid $290 million to settle a lawsuit brought by roughly 200 of Epstein’s victims and an additional $75 million to resolve related litigation brought by the U.S. Virgin Islands, where many of Epstein’s crimes took place. The payments were a rounding error for a company that raked in more than $50 billion in profits that year. (The bank didn’t admit wrongdoing and is trying to force its insurers to cover some of the litigation costs.) No regulator took action against JPMorgan. No executives lost their jobs. Dimon remains one of the most powerful bankers in the world.

The apparent impunity alarmed Bridgette Carr, a law professor and human-trafficking expert whom the U.S. Virgin Islands hired after Epstein’s death to analyze JPMorgan’s role. Carr concluded that the bank enabled his crimes. “I am deeply worried here that the ultimate message to other financial institutions is that they can keep serving traffickers,” she told us. “It’s still profitable to do that, given the lack of substantial consequences.”

It’s a broad scope, but I feel like the world’s biggest problem right now, and has been growing since the 80s, is that no one is truly held accountable for their crimes. At least when you are above a certain income threshold. Banks? Nope. Billionaires? Nope. Politicians? Nope. Entertainment stars? Nope. CEOs/execs? Nope. Me and you? Yup.

ETA: as always, if the punishment is less than the gotten gains, it’s just a cost of business.

Billionaires? Nope.

Unless you ripoff enough rich people. Only then are you made an example of.

See Madoff, Bankman-Fried, and Holmes.

But I was told that banks don’t need to be policed because it’s in their best interest to remain spotless!!!

The loosening of regulations in the 2000s hastened the 2007 crash. But no worries, I’m sure that won’t happen again! /s

Jeffrey Epstein made his money by laundering money for wealthy and powerful clients. Odds are more than a few of JO Morgan's larger clients used Epstein's services

They did and there’s already evidence that’s been released about it. Epstein had close relationships with the current and previous CEOs of Chase

Hate to break it to you but Epstein has just as heavy ties with the democratic party as he does with the republican party. both parties are funded by the same psychos that are in charge of these banks. This isn’t a left vs right issue, this is a global class issue between the majority working class and the billionaire class.

Another article I found:

https://lawandcrime.com/live-trials/live-trials-current/jeffrey-epstein/explosive-details-of-jeffrey-epstein-related-lawsuit-against-jpmorgan-unsealed-revealing-snow-white-messages-with-former-top-exec/

In July 2010, Staley sent an email to Epstein, saying: "Maybe they're tracking u? That was fun. Say hi to Snow White," according to the lawsuit.

"[W]hat character would you like next?" Epstein is quoted responding.

Staley answered "Beauty and the Beast," and Epstein replied: "well one side is available," the lawsuit states.

Almost SoftBank like.
