Political Past conservatives would despise modern conservatives as most positions that were exclusively conservative in the past are branded as “mUh WoKe LeFt” by modern conservatives.
The reality is that modern conservatives are completely schizophrenic and conservatives of the past would absolutely despite modern conservatives. Practically most positions that were exclusively conservative in the past are branded as “mUh WoKe LeFt” by modern conservatives.
Take environmentalism for example. Environmentalism used to be the exclusively CONSERVATIVE position since after all, conservatism about conserving stuff and historically that included the environment. There's a reason why Teddy Roosevelt, a conservative, established national parks. There's a reason why Tolkien, a reactionary monarchist, was opposed to industrialization (when Tolkien wrote Lord of the Rings, Mordor was literally based on industrial Birmingham). There's a reason why Nixon, yes Nixon, created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Conservatives didn't start bootlicking big oil or denying climate change until the Reagan-era (I swear, everything bad can be traced back to Reagan).
Also, mass migration was only ever seriously opposed by unions, which modern conservatives have effectively dismantled. Mass migration largely serves as a right wing form of monetary policy to create deflationary pressure on wages, which is why modern conservative governments increase immigration year on year despite claiming to oppose "illegal immigration". All of modern economics is based largely on deflation, and mass immigration is the easiest way to do it. They destroyed unions specifically to allow mass migration, they cry about it when they achieved their goal.
Trump himself admitted that he will probably not go after illegals that work in agriculture or hotels because these industries are so oversaturated with them. Over half of the agricultural workforce is illegals. If they suddenly were deported, it would create an economic crisis the likes of which America has never seen. Trump himself was a beneficiary of this neoliberal world order as he had illegals working in his hotels. The whole crusade against illegals is just a virtue signal to cover up the fact that the elites are dependent on the labor that they outsourced in the 90s

It blows my mind how the current Left has gone 180°, just because it's Trump being a big-government Leftie.
The American Left has grown a huge Federal leviathan, reducing State and Local self-determination. This is more than 100 years of it, with even things like the 17th Amendment stripping states of their role.
Now, when Trump pulls a Leftie play, intervening in states and cities, suddenly it's wrong--as conservatives have said forever.
How about centralization and strengthening of federal Executive power? Conservatives have warned over and over, whether Wilson, or FDR, or Nixon, or Clinton, or Obama, or Biden. NOW.. when Trump uses what The Left created, it's suddenly dangerous and "Fascism".
The Left spent decades trashing our republic because they could, without asking whether they should.
EDIT: typos. O probably still missed some.
