Political Reddit is too obsessed with a second American civil war that is never going to happen

This is an actual obsession. Reddit can’t help but say civil war will happen in America, it’s fucking annoying nonsense. And in case you wonder, it’s something that’s never gonna happen. Developed countries produce comfortable citizens who won’t give up their comfort to fight a civil war, and capitalistic activities in a developed country depends on stability. And it’s not like this doomer fanfiction is new: it used to be predicted in the 1960s during the civil rights movement, and it never happened.

I don't think Americans actually like the status quo. But they're too comfortable to actually properly rebel against it. I think once Trump's economic plans really come into fruition. We're going to start seeing Great depression levels of suffering and unemployment.

And from there we'll either usher in another new deal government, or dive straight into techno fascism.

Yeah ill agree. Im not sure status quo is the phrase i was looking for. i could have stopped at most americans are too lazy to rebel honestly.
