Is this vinyl Serato Performance Series or not?

Post image

Hi. I'm gonna buy a serato control vinyl to scratch only. As far as I searched on internet, I should get serato performance series for scratching.

Seller send me this picture and claims that this is serato performance series. I wanted to be sure before I buy it because there isn't any label or sign that says performance series on it.

What are break records for ?

Sup yall? Been Djaying maybe a year or two. Learned a lot but still have some questions. Like what are break records for ? I know stuff like Practice Yo Cuts is for scratching, and ultimate breakbeats was for back in the day, to make loops on vinyl or make beats. Every now and then though I get something like DJ quberts breaktionary or say the second side of super seal that’s just quick cuts of songs. I even have a cartoon break record that has like the ninja turtle and ducktales theam on it that’s really awesome but not really sure how to incorporate it. I guess beat juggling but I don’t see how you would need that specifically 🤔 anyway thanks for any input

Hello, I’m having a trouble picking up new mixer for scratching. Does anyone have or had DJM 707 or Hak 360? I know that Eternal fader is great but what about Pioneer’s fader?

Where did this Slipmat orginate from?

Post image

I found this image via Google search by chance. The website which hosts it doesn't offer any information, and from what I can tell it reads: “© SEGA Enterprises Ltd. 1992 Licensed by SEGA. PRODUCED BY PRO DJ TOOLS Collection No. 11”

What was PRO DJ TOOLS? Was it a magazine? Collection implies there were more slipmats that were released by PRO DJ TOOLS, maybe it was a publication which had a sales catalog for DJ equipment? Perhaps some 90's heads here would know!

Pioneer DJM-S7 FX keeps resetting to default Fx – anyone else?

https://reddit.com/link/1n82fq2/video/1ufc8chx93nf1/player

Hey everyone,
I bought a Pioneer DJM-S7 a few months ago and I’m having a really strange issue. Whenever I use an effect, the mixer often resets back to the default Echo FX on its own (without me touching anything). Sometimes it even randomly increases the Echo parameter, or jumps back to the previously selected FX without me touching anything.

Both the driver and firmware are up to date. Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea what could be causing it or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I've been using doubles of this record alot and I just wanted to post it up here incase some people haven't checked it out. This record is super dope and is JAM PACKED with skipless locked grooves. A whole lot of vocals, drums, synths and noises. https://cutandpasterecords.com/products/12-inch-vinyl-jimmy-penguin-perfect-k-o

What headshell and needle do you recommend for scratch ? That stuff costs awfully expensive

Hey yo, so I'm about to get my hands on a straight tonearm for my numark ttx and I've read that you better not use the former headshell and needle you used with your S shaped tonearm.

1st of all : is that true?

And also : what headshell and needle would you recommend me to get ?

These cost an unholy amount of money for the size of them so I'm wondering if there's an affordable but trustable option ? Or should I be really investing 150 bucks for 2 pieces of plastics with a bit a metal in it haha

EDIT : I use my turntable for scratching only, no proper mixing, no listening

Looking for examples of people who beat juggle on a controller without moving platters?

I found a DJ on Instagram juggling on a controller without moving platters. He didnt show his screen but I assume he was just staring at it to refernce where to move the platter to.

Im looking for more examples of DJ's who are beat juggling with a basic controller , any links or suggestions.

How to calibrate pitch techniques without zero point?

I have changed the PITCH on my Technics SL 1200 MK2, I have put the one from the MK5 and disconnected the orange cable so as not to have a zero point and I would like to know how to calibrate it from the PITCH itself.

I know that you have to measure and adjust the resistance with a screwdriver, but you have to set it to zero to configure it correctly and that is my doubt.

How do I set the pitch to configure it correctly?

Vinyl that’s just a scale or a single tone

Not sure if this is the best place to ask but does anyone know if there’s any sort of record available that’s just a single note or a scale or something like that? I think it’d be fun to try to play something like that as an instrument. I know there’s records out there to tune guitars to but most of those have a little bit of talking on them that ruin them for my purposes.

Rane One vs. Actual Turntables?

Alright, I was a scratch DJ when I was a young buck in the 90s and early 2000s and at some point I a gave up my SP1200s. I have a small space that I have setup as an office/home studio and I'm really feeling an itch I've gotta scratch LOL. Is a DJ controller like the Rane One comparable at all to The Wheels of Steel if I'm just going to be using Traktor anyway without a huge vinyl collection?

Stickyness of death

Post image
29 Upvotes

Still loving my St150 mk1 but the bottom panel and start/ stop button of it is getting more and more sticky so whenever I have to touch it for moving it I got something left on my fingers. Do you have experience with removing the stickyness ? Any fluid which can handle this problems easy? My MKII which is on the right doesn’t have any problem with it Peace!

Flare Fest ‘25

Speed work over 140bpm w/ flares.

I’ve had a nice breakthrough recently whereas my record hand (which isn’t my dominant hand) is getting more in the pocket.

I normally have it on the inside near the label due to habit, speed, and energy efficiency. I’ve started now moving it towards the middle of the record, halfway to the edge, and am getting far more versatility in my tonal range without sacrificing much speed.

Always something new to learn, which makes music so infinitely creative.

PS sorry for the audio quality - better setup on the way.
