Discussion Thoughts on the theory of Edward II escaping and becoming an Italian hermit?

There's arguments for and against, but the arguments for his survival are not crackpot and based on both circumstantial and physical evidence. Specifically, the Italian make of Edward II's coffin has led people to believe that Edward III brought his father's body back from Italy decades after his official death.
