We don't need little kids to be heroes, we need sensible gun laws and mental health services.

THIS.

Also thoughts and prayers have been proven completely useless. Thousands of mass shootings followed by thoughts and prayers every time prove that. There's always more more more.

You don't understand praying at all. Praying is not "rubbing a genie's lamp and hoping to get your wish". I'm not even religious, but I at least try not to be ignorant and judgemental, unlike you.

The fact you're blaming this on thoughts and prayers says way more about you than anyone else. Why are you fixated on people praying? You're just phobic of Christians, that's all.

Look if it makes people feel better then whatever but when that's the only solution offered every time instead of taking action then it's actually harmful.

The definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Thoughts and prayers are coming up empty over and over again. We need tangible action.

You must have missed the part where I said the point of praying isn't to rub a genie's lamp and hope your wish comes true, that's not what praying is. You're just judging people that you don't understand, straight up xenophobia.

Hell, even if you were right about prayers, why are you fixated on that? It's because you don't like Christians, even though Christian school children were just murdered. So you want to make an anti-Christian point. Just listen to yourself.

You are missing the prominent part where I'm calling for action. You're hearing what you want to hear.

"Thoughts and prayers" are not action. We need change.

Ok but criticizing thoughts and prayers is not action, you're doing something just as useless as what you accuse them. And you're being judgemental when you do it, and they're not.

The Christian school children were praying when they were attacked, and you're attacking prayer. What is wrong with you? I honestly think you're more sympathetic to the shooter at this point.

I mean... Since god isn't real... When people in the government say they will send their thoughts and prayers (since most of them claim to be religious to help get elected) to help. Really they are saying tough shit, gl at the next shooting. Because there will be another one. And then another one. And then another one. One more dead child, or teacher to send to the non existent god. So maybe stfu. People are angry at the government pretending that God will do anything to protect from more shootings. Given they were in a church this time, I can't see how there was any more of an example of how little god is protecting anyone.

Three years ago we got this headline and our lawmakers have done little to prevent it happening again

Girl Scouts posthumously award Amerie Jo Garza for doing "all she could" to save classmates, teachers during Uvalde school shooting

Gun owners want no guns laws they don't care about kids doing and never will they will have to be violently forced to do what is necessary to keep kids safe from their gun culture.

And no more days to transvengence.

1

u/Spiritual-Drop7533 4d ago

Two. There have been two trans school shooters in the past 5 years. How many straight white school shooters have there been?

1

u/PsychoEazyEyuh 3d ago

Seems high for only being 1% of the population

1

u/Novae909 3d ago

Well. The number of shootings could be as high as like 400 depending on who you ask. So if you assume the worst then actually they are underperforming compared to the majority since only 0.5 percent have done a school shooting.

Not when you realize how many school shootings we’ve had in that time

Right, if someone is taking drugs for depression or other mental health problems they should have their second amendment rights stripped and any firearms they own removed.

Being prescribed certain medications such as SSRI’s should trigger a person to lose their gun rights.

1

u/WaelreowMadr 5d ago

that seems a bit much. Plenty of people take SSRIs and are totally functional. I'm on SSRI's because i have mild depression. It in no way makes me unstable, even if im untreated (it just makes me sleep and depressed and not want to do anything/be productive).

There's absolutely no reason i shouldnt be allowed to own my guns. All i ever do with them is take them to the range and pew pew holes in paper and very, very occasionally go hunting with some friends.

You might maybe want to educate yourself on how all this shit works before you drool that nonsense out of the asshole in your face.

It’s a sign of a mental health disorder.

By your same argument millions of people are gun owners and never become school shooters. So would you argue we should do nothing and continue with thoughts and prayers?

You know you don’t have to get all pissed off and be an asshole over a Reddit disagreement. You seem unstable, like someone who shouldn’t own firearms.

SSRI, have shown to cause suicidal thoughts in teens and young adults, the same demographic shooting up schools.

1

u/StinkusMinkus2001 3d ago

Ok, so this comment makes it abundantly clear you know this won’t stop the issue, you just see a convenient way to target your enemies. The part where you jump to “reee you being mean to me means you should have your guns taken away and I’ll call you unstable.” Is that the only right you’re gonna go after for people on SSRI’s, or le evil trans, or whatever?

You’re a disingenuous fuck. At least be honest, you know you don’t care when these shootings happen, you just look for it the perpetrator can fit your agenda

1

u/intothewoods76 3d ago

I’m not disingenuous. Suicide makes up the majority of gun violence at almost 60%, school shootings are always mentally ill people (you have to be mentally ill to want to kill a bunch of children)

Both of these groups would benefit from having their firearms taken away, both of these groups can be identified by knowing they are on antidepressants.

1

u/StinkusMinkus2001 3d ago edited 3d ago

And you’ll do it and still get school shootings because mentally ill people are mostly not on ssris or diagnosed. Do you think you walk through a tsa line and they can tell you’re crazy?

You want to take what could CHARITABLY be called half measures because you know they won’t affect YOU and will serve the dual purpose of getting rid of rights for some people you don’t like.

Getting rid of guns would make non SSRI users less likely to kill themselves too. Shouldn’t we do that? It’d be better for us all.

1

u/intothewoods76 3d ago

So you just want to eliminate the 2nd amendment altogether, an almost impossible task, and do nothing about the mentally ill having guns until then.

Over 90% of school shooters were either on antidepressants or recently stopped taking their medication. It seems reasonable that we could prevent most school shooters by removing guns from households with people taking antidepressants.

If we both agree removing guns is the key, shouldn’t we focus on the democratic most likely to produce results rather than a blanket ban on constitutional rights for everyone.

0

u/StinkusMinkus2001 3d ago

Sounds like knowing that, the adolescents with those desires will simply not report it. The mentally ill will just get less treatment because you want to tie mental health treatment to loss of constitutional rights. How bout eat my ass, fucking dumbass

Republicans in power who want to blame ssri’s are also in favor of getting rid of ssris and a lot of the treatments they would use to theoretically designate who can’t have a gun. What next, when you ban ssris mental illness will just leave with it?

Can you spell DUMBASS?

1

u/Spiritual-Drop7533 4d ago

I…don’t think you know how SSRI’s work.

-1

u/intothewoods76 4d ago

You don’t huh? My nursing professor would be so disappointed.

Why don’t you go ahead and explain to me how they work in your own words. And explain how that makes what I said somehow untrue?

Stupid global gazette. Put the shooters name in the headline and the hero is called “Boy”.

At least they put the child’s name in the article but this is honestly yet another thing that creates these shootings. They put the shooters, name guns and body count in the headlines.

Hey should take a page from Issac Asimov and start referring to the perpetrators as stupid idiot number 5.

1

u/xuceledof2pwg 5d ago

"Stupid idiot number 5" would probably trend faster than the actual name.

1

u/Sea-Kale-5092 3d ago

Hey, he's only been "alleged". He may not have actually done it.

1

u/cute-trash3648 5d ago

Don’t put that moron’s name up here, that’s the payoff for them. Don’t give it to them.

1

u/Imaginary-Method-715 2d ago

Gun owners are the worst people on earth ant they.

Just say anything to keep their dumbass ideas alive unlike school kids.

u/Jon_Galt1 4d ago

We need to bring back Asylums. They worked. They took people like this off the streets.
Where they aweful? Yeah some, but now these batshit crazy freaks are out in the streets killing kids.
Lock them up. Save the kids.

2

u/Spiritual-Drop7533 4d ago

“People who are suffering should suffer more!” Fucking hell. There is a reason we got rid of Asylums.

1

u/ItsMrChristmas 4d ago

Locking people up who have committed no crime?

People will suggest anything except the one thing that will work: get rid of the fucking guns.
