Miscellaneous Russian invaders are growing concerned about Ukraine’s new RAM-2X drone, which has recently been destroying their rear positions

Ukraine needs to be able to hit 30-100kms behind the line at scale. That will slow offensive activity.

u/MillionEyesOfSumuru 3d ago
They have 120 km range, and are generally pretty interesting: https://en.defence-ua.com/weapon_and_tech/the_ram_2x_features_a_ukrainian_efp_warhead_that_leaves_russian_troops_with_little_chance_of_survival_and_operates_in_tandem_with_the_shark_uav-14030.html

If they have that why don't they send them to Moscow, start obliterating that place

Yeah, the ubiquitous cheap FPV hammer everything that moves up to 15, maybe 20km. With relay etc that goes up. The longer fiberoptics can reach 25+km. And then the Vampire and other heavy bombers. Some of the expensive western winged drones with AI and/or EW resistant can hit back to the 100km (depending on model), but due to lack of numbers and expense, they are selective on targets.
There is zero doubt in my mind that these numbers will get pushed deeper and deeper as cheaper AI navigation and targeting will allow hitting farther at very low cost, making it more and more dangerous to supply the lines or stage assaults.
Ukraine has so many weapons in the pipeline that can hit to 100 km. GMLRS. The American and French glide bombs, ... and soon their knock-off UMPK kits that will bring far larger of glide bombs into the rear. And it appears SAAB may have resolved the accuracy issue with the GLSDB, which would be useful with its 150 km range.
And now we can add the RAM-2X, and whatever else I have forgotten to mention.

I for one can't wait for season two of "Blow Up all Russia's Refineries!" I was on the edge of my seat all of last season!

u/Gnaeus-Naevius 3d ago
There is even a real-time scoreboard for that one ... the ruble price of AI-95 gasoline.

Winter is coming. Ukraine is just offering the Russians some heat from those burning refineries....

u/CopBaiter 3d ago
for refineries ukraine just use FP-1s its their knock off shaheed drone. pretty usefull and works well against refineries. the payload is small but its enouth to start a big fire when it ignites the liquids inside the cracking unit

Our rockstar, Fire Point company (flamingo, fp1 producer) announced production of fp2 drone. Range of several hundred km, warhead over 100kg

I’d love to see them loft and float drones over Russia using hydrogen balloons — getting them 100k feet up and riding wind currents before releasing could unlock huge range

u/Chaz_wazzers 3d ago edited 3d ago
I had that same weapon idea, using the height for kinetic energy similar to the tallboys of ww2
3
u/TheBurtReynold 3d ago edited 3d ago
I’m less concerned about kinetic gain — more using the height to increase the range due to being able to glide a lot
Additionally, Russia could only shoot it down with an expensive SAM (vs. small arm fire)

u/BlackPantera299 3d ago
Yea good luck. The drone would be a popsicle.

This is flat-out wrong
Check out the Red Bull jump with Felix — that balloon carried a dude and a capsule, easily a few hundred pounds
Another — look at all that gear

Are you retarded by any chance? You are comparing a human that had 100 people help him for 1 fucking jump. He had a litteral spacecraft that he was strapped in seconds before a jump. Over a small shitty drone that would be made as cheap as possible.

u/TheBurtReynold 2d ago edited 1d ago
I dunno man, the Japanese figured it out 80 years ago and launched 9000 of them … so maybe you’re just the ignorant retard
1
u/BlackPantera299 9h ago
You are comparing a unguided iron bomb to a drone with electronics and flight surfaces are you fucking stupid?
1
u/TheBurtReynold 9h ago
God damn, dummy, give it a rest — it’s okay if you don’t understand what I’m saying

u/AgreeableAd9119 3d ago
Just have to keep pushing the depots and staging areas further back to strain logistics. When they think its a safe distance and pile mountains of ammunition is when the additional range makes all the distance.

The enemy has drones of this type like an alcoholic Ruzzian fool that abuses his wife! (in other words, lots of them)

u/AirBear7174 4d ago
Yeah, you'll keep getting "hit in the rear", because you're fucked! Bend over, Rover!

Both sides are getting even smaller drones 40K plus beyond the front lines. No areas in the rear are safe, and the near and mid are getting pretty dangerous. I just hope the Ukrainians are putting out a lot more hurt than they are getting. Even the civilians and REMF's are not safe, much less the grunts. I feel so bad for Ukraine, they deserve to live peacefully. Until then give the invaders hell just like this.

u/FreddyFerdiland 3d ago
... Ukrainian anti drone tech is kept secret .
the russians can video offensive tech so thats not secret.

u/PopnCrunch 3d ago
" I just hope the Ukrainians are putting out a lot more hurt than they are getting." I'd say they are. Russia squanders its munitions on war crimes, obliterating children, mothers, teenage girls. Ukraine takes out air surveillance (radar) and refineries. They aren't playing the same game.

u/bedrooms-ds 3d ago
Surely not. Russians are doing terrorism. I imagine that they are reminding us that missiles can shoot any building in anywhere Europe, seeding fear and paralysis that prevent ideal military reactions from Ukraine's allies.
2
u/CopBaiter 3d ago
depends on what you mean with alot more hurt. Ukraine is 100% takeing alot more damage when it comes to infastrukture, because russia dont care and bomb civilians. thats not to say that ukraine aint hurting russia, because they are. especially with them hitting the refineries.

The enemy has drones of this type like a fool has tobacco (in other words, lots of them).
10
u/Dydriver 3d ago
Holy crap! Seems russia and china is still using tobacco as population control. russia probably still has tv commercials w/ doctors encouraging them to smoke.
30
u/Express-Rub-3952 3d ago
To be fair, the lung cancer rate in Russia is actually pretty low.
(That's mostly because a great way to avoid dying from cancer is to die from something else first, and Russians are really good at that.)
6
u/No-Arachnid9518 3d ago
Can't have cancer when you don't diagnose it. That's the Russian way.
Like homelessness in moscow. Can't have a homeless problem people if you shove them in van to never be seen again. Everything looks great when you just get rid of everything you don't like.1
u/rizzineq 3d ago
russia probably still has tv commercials w/ doctors encouraging them to smoke.
Nope. Marketing of cigs is prohibited by law. The government has been actively trying to reduce both smoking and alcohol consumption during the past decade or so.

u/Old_Fart52 3d ago
Nothing worse than having your rear positions destroyed, especially without lube

u/Luv2022Understanding 3d ago
Things are looking pretty rough for the russians' rears...I just read about the drastic increase in HIV in the russian military and their civilians, and now this! Bad time to be russian, I'd say.

u/Sargent_Duck85 3d ago
Has there ever been a good time?

u/Testiculese 3d ago
I was going to say that Moscow concert Metallica did in the 90's, but then I remembered that the military did the security detail, and they didn't know how to handle it, and just started beating people for headbanging.

"Allcon, allcon, Operation Surprise Buttseks is a go. Fire Teams Ramrod, Backdoor Party, Booty Kablooey, Downtown Brown, Invader Invader, Tailpipe Tag and Chocolate Salad are go on North vector.
Fire Teams Greek Fantasy, Whoopty Poo, Corn Holster, Russian Mitten, Three-Finger Tango and Stinkfist are go on East vector.
Good luck gentlemen."

Ukraine needs to be supported so they can continue building their own industry. They are showing themselves to be extremely capable. They just need the resources to do so. There should be no excuse not to do this. Unless your pro russia.

“All along the front, specifically in the rear”? So, “the rear” is now part of “the front”?
