Discussion Could Hulk join the Ultimates?

Although Hulk has been presented to us from the beginning as an enemy of the Ultimates and an ally of Maker, let's remember that this is their opinion, but not necessarily Banner's. All we know about Banner is that he transformed into Hulk and that with help he managed to maintain control, but what if they not only controlled him but also manipulated him?

Instead of this Hulk being an evil Banner with an intact mind like She-Hulk, he could have a mind as fragmented as other versions of him, with this Enlightened Hulk being the Ultimate version of Gray Hulk/“Joe Fixit,” a personality created by Maker with his help in order to use Hulk's strength again for his own purposes.

If so, what do you think the Ultimate versions of Banner and the Green Hulk would be like? Would they be for or against the Ultimates or the Maker? Would he become an ally or an even more uncontrollable threat?

I don't think he's redeemable after Gamma Island. At best he may come to enough senses to die in battle to buy The Ultimates time to do something or the other, but even that seems pretty outlandish after all the evil deeds he gleefully performed.

A hulk personality that has to stay angry all the time to keep the evil banner at bay would be a good flip on the Jekyll and Hyde story

Don't think I would want him in the ultimates though.

I don't think so. I think he'll end up being killed by Lejori

I can't wait for her to give Banner what he deserves

That’s like asking if Mussolini could join the allies. Hulk’s irredeemable.

But what if Mussolini had split personalities?? And one was just a fun Italian plumber???

I mean not really. The alters are for all intents and purposes entirely separate beings trapped in one body. It’d be like if Mussolini had multiple people in his brain who when they presented, drastically altered their body

It should be noted that Banner was the one who fucked over She-Hulk's people, not the Hulk. Maybe there's a third persona in there who's not a bad guy, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I think it’s better if they just make him evil cause yes pretty up there now. It’s not like captain America became a hydra sleeper agent for a year. Hulk willingly started gamma island which was inspired by the horrific real life castle bravo, invaded the heavenly cities of Asia, took the sacred power of the iron fist, and fashions himself a god. He’s on the deep end of fuckery trying to excuse to would be a disservice.

I think it makes sense for skaar to be ultimate hulk after Bruce is taken down. He hasn’t been alluded to or anything so there’s all sorts of things that can be done with him. Yes the ultimates goal is to fix their world with 616 in mind but that doesn’t mean it should ignore that its a new playground where anything can go down

Was Skaar not one of the other Immortal Weapon Hulks fighting on Banner's side when they confront him in Heaven? I must have assumed he was

No the immortal weapons are based on the same ones from iron fist in 616

Perhaps that's why it would be interesting to see it. Normally, Hulk goes out to cause trouble, and Banner has to deal with the consequences. Imagine the scene of Banner realizing what Hulk did to the world. Would it collapse or get even more angry?

But the difference is banner is hulk. All of this has been a methodical and conscious choice. It be like if you had Thanos realize he fucked up after destroying 16 planets. Yeah you changed but you did it after validating why the Geneva convention exist hundreds of times over. I think it’s better to move forward with the world like it wouldn’t be that compelling if 6160 just slowly morphed into 616. They made heroes into villians for a reason trying to fix them would invalidate the narrative like Magik and colossus running their Eurasian horror show

Perhaps they won't fix it, but instead create an even worse threat with a less controlled personality that they can manipulate against Maker's forces.

The Ultimate Endgame comic has already been announced. They could end up bringing the Green Hulk into their team and facing the Maker in a battle of strength vs. intellect. That said, how would She-Hulk react given her hatred for Banner? Would she be against it and want to destroy him, or would she end up taking pity on him, considering him another victim of the Maker?

I really think ultimates fumbled the bag by not having Dr Brian David Banner, Bruce's father, be the Hulk in this ultimate universe. It would be quite a messed up twist to have the failed scientist turned abusive dad become the hulk while his son would have been spared that fate. Would have been a great way to have Bruce still retain his goodness and be on the ultimates.

Tbf though the immortus engine could fix what the Maker has done to Bruce in the future so you never know, we could see a heroic Hulk

Not 🚫 n the short term and I wouldn't want to see it in this overall arc. But long term having Bruce banner alter ego develop and try to take over would be neat.

So if he still has DID like in the main universe, then yeah it’s possible we’ll see a more heroic version surface. But honestly I think he’ll only join the Ultimates over She Hulk’s dead body. It could be interesting to explore this story by having him constantly stress he’s fundamentally a different person than who did that to her people but she can’t look past it or him just on his word. But I just don’t know if it’ll happen.
