Looking for cold weather gear recs

I’m running a 50k in January in North Carolina (so cold but not extremely cold) and need some recommendations for gear, specifically a jacket that will be warm enough but still compact enough to fit in a vest/pack. Any other recommendations for things that were life saving for cold weather running are appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Tsali? Or something farther east?

For a jacket, I'd go with a wind shell or rain jacket, something lightweight that blocks wind. Any jacket that provides actual warmth and insultation will be too bulky and probably too hot.

Under that wear layers, I usually do a long sleeve shirt and then a short-sleeve shirt over it. If it gets too hot I can go down to either just the t-shirt or the long sleeve.

On my head I'll wear a merino wool beanie, I think mine is from Minus33.

For legs, I don't wear long tights unless it's below 20F. Otherwise, shorts.

Yes it’s Tsali! Thanks for all the recs, I’ll definitely do layers instead of a bigger jacket
