Crazy when a stallions UA shirt is more expensive than a Bama Nike shirt in Bham.

23

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Stallions 24 jersey $150

Farewell to the Greatest Dynasty No One Saw

32

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

they will make a "this was the UFL" doc in 20 years and this move will be the reason they say it failed. Leadership did stupid moves.

15

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

That’s an awesome way to put it lololol

11

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

People saw them, it just wasn’t people in Birmingham. 😂

2

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

People in Birmingham saw them. Highest television ratings in the league and country.

3

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

That was us, dude. Literally the fans of every other team in the league.

11

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

The Birmingham Television Market had the highest ratings in the UFL.

-2

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

Would love to see those figures.

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

This has no details whatsoever.

I want to see the total breakdown of where local viewership comes from for each game.

6

u/Criticalthinker15 Jul 23 '25

I mean it's in the article lol Birmingham was number one in TV viewership on Fox no data on espn/abc I am surprised that the New Orleans was number two

-1

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

If you want it, go find it then. IDGAF. It’s been proven that the Birmingham TV Market is the strongest. Without the Stallions they’ll lose the market. Maybe your Battlehawks can finally win the last UFL Championship since Birmingham will be gone.

9

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

I am not arguing it’s not the strongest.

Let me break this down for you.

Let’s say 900,000 fans watch a UFL game.

Let’s say 200,000 of them are in Birmingham, and that’s the top market.

That still means 700,000 viewers, the majority, came from markets that are not Birmingham.

And you can say “200,000 is a lot of viewers to lose.”

Sure it is.

And I am sure they lose some from the other 3 markets as well.

But they likely have already done the math on what 4 new markets will get them.

They may have given up 200, 60, 50, and 35k markets.

But if they add 100, 90, 85, and 75k markets…

Then you’re losing 345k total viewers but gaining 350k

Is that worth it? Seems negligible right?

Unless you’re selling 20,000 tickets in all those new places where you were only maybe doing 5-7k in the others.

There’s a balance here.

They think they can make more money moving into other markets and are so convinced of it that they are dropping their top TV market.

And that should tell you a lot.

These venture capitalists don’t go into business to lose money.

There is no data presented in this video.

1

u/emberyleaf Jul 23 '25

It makes no sense to me to delete this team like Memphis and Houston were the only teams that were not working

51

u/Dry-Ad1149 Jul 23 '25

Now I don’t have to drag my mom to an 11 am game on Mother’s Day next year. She will be delighted.

21

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Ill never understand why they did that

5

u/GBreezy Jul 23 '25

I mean, women can like football This isn't the 70s show

15

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

In Alabama, 75% of the state are going to be in church at 11am on a Sunday. When it’s Mother’s Day Sunday, that number is probably around 85%. It was a miracle that 4500 people were there for that game.

1

u/stompANDsmash Jul 24 '25

The only home game I didn't go to. 😭

22

u/Dry-Ad1149 Jul 23 '25

So guess that free clinic at legion field tomorrow may get some headlines and reporters. Finally. Publicity.

12

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

I dont know why im getting downvoted so hard this is affecting literally half the fanbase

1

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

Isn’t the whole point that these teams don’t have fanbases?

6

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

To be completely fair you can’t say that about the panthers. Also moving from birmingham to boise and completely resetting i don’t see how that will help tbh

5

u/magiccitybhm Jul 23 '25

That's correct about Michigan. What's getting them, I'm sure, is the costs associated with playing at Ford Field.

1

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Arlington doesn't either.

23

u/Stay_Beautiful_ Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Same here. I have done nothing but get burned time and time again by spring football. This was it, I'm done after being a day one and watching almost every game

Fuck me I guess for ever thinking our city (and state, for that matter) could ever be viewed as anything but a stepping stone to be exploited and then trampled on

4

u/Initial-Advice3914 Jul 23 '25

Bring back the barracudas !

30

u/Turbulent_Special911 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Well this sucks, won’t be watching no more, it was a fun ride, thank you Skip for everything!!

8

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Really wish UAB couldve snagged him but oh well

16

u/jtbush91 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

I hope they still do. They would instantly rule the American Conference. Maybe they fire Dilfer mid-season and bring in Skip to bring us back to our glory days

7

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Lowkey i think dilfer is a poison pill planted by the denny family lolol

3

u/magiccitybhm Jul 23 '25

That moron AD isn't firing Dilfer. They can't afford a buyout and a new coach.

3

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

i wonder if Skip stays. He was asked this question yesterday on the radio about a move. He said he heard nothing. I bet he moves on to something else

7

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

I am so glad I did not buy the season tickets now. saved me a grand

8

4

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Thank you

23

u/LIfeabovetherim Jul 23 '25

100% with you. They schedule the games at terrible times…. 11 am on a Sunday… Mother’s Day…. The only prime time games I can remember, we had complete down pours for half the games. Plus Birmingham watches more sports than many of the major markets. They are taking away 10,000’s eye balls away with this move. Stupid

3

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

I really hope this doesnt fuck over the players but i think we’ll look back at this move plus the other UFL relocations as the beginning of the end

8

u/CFLXFL Houston Roughnecks Jul 23 '25 edited Jul 23 '25

Sadly, I think this is it. You don't move half your league if you're even remotely close to healthy. One or two teams? Sure. It's the early stages. If there's a 2026* season, it will probably be the last.

Edit: originally I said 2016*

3

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Yea sadly i think its beyond cooked. Gonna be hard to take back the stallions and panthers fan viewership

2

u/CFLXFL Houston Roughnecks Jul 23 '25

That won't even move the needle. Losing those teams doesn't matter. The fact that 4 teams are moving is pretty telling. Instead of expanding they're relocating half their league.

3

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

Players will be fine. They all just practice in Arlington and fly to the game anyway.

2

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Im talking about the league folding

4

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

We wouldn’t be hearing about only 4 teams relocating if they were folding.

Frankly, 5 teams from the USFL and 4 teams from the XFL already folded before UFL even kicked off.

1

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

How do you expect them to replace the viewership that panthers and stallions fans brought tho id imagine they retain maybe 20% of that crowd.

-1

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

By putting the popular teams like DC and STL on prime time.

5

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

DC's championship game ratings were lower than Birmingham's appearance last year.

And DC played on ABC.

-2

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

But they show up to the stadium. And you don’t.

You know who watched Birmingham’s championship game?

Fans of St Louis, DC, San Antonio, Etc…

4

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Well, why weren't those same fans watching this year? The ratings plummeted, despite ABC drawing the best numbers all year.

6

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

If this is true, I hope the league folds. Fuck em

7

u/Enough-Ad-3111 Jul 23 '25

As a Panthers fan, it felt great finally proving to the USFL fans that the Stallions weren’t invincible anymore.

Now… they’re just memories.

6

u/Extra_Coffee6197 Jul 23 '25

Fuck em all. I hope the league dies.

3

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

Same and it probably will.

4

u/Safe_Hornet6363 Jul 23 '25

At least I no longer have to watch this cheap (emphasis on cheap) remake of a real professional league that played when I was a kid. The original USFL was and always will be the only truly professional football league in the spring. All other leagues have been semi-pro and that includes the all editions of the XFL and USFL2.0.

1

u/Far_Fun_7070 Jul 24 '25

That is straight up WORD

3

u/AlbinoRhino911 Michigan Panthers Jul 23 '25

I'm a panthers fan and will be right there with you when these rumors are confirmed true, still holding out hope that it's all false but that feels like wishful thinking right now

2

u/harambe_69 Jul 23 '25

the merch being on fire sale is concerning lol but ur right this is bigger than our rivalry, thank you for joining the boycott

4

u/BhamBlazers Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

But all teams are on fire sale. Even the 4 teams that are supposedly “safe.”

2

u/DingerSinger2016 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Even if the rumors are false, this has done insane damage to the league.

3

u/writingbyrjkidder Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

I'm with you. If these rumors are true, I have no interest in continuing to watch the UFL. Why the fuck would you get rid of the winningest team/sole dynasty of 2020s spring football?

If they kill all the USFL teams, I really think this will kill the league. You're basically saying fuck you to an entire leagues worth of fans in favor of the XFL teams/fans. Might as well rebrand the fucking league entirely back to XFL if that's what they're going to do.

3

u/The_OG_Hothead Jul 24 '25

It's ironic. This subreddit has been dominated by posts obsessed with saving the league. Don't care, I'm done now. If it dies, it dies.

18

u/hokahey23 St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

I mean, I hear you. But your attendance was abysmal.

32

u/MirrorkatFeces MVPerkins Jul 23 '25

Can’t blame the fans for the league constantly raising prices, scheduling games at terrible times, and not marketing all all

-4

u/PaddyMayonaise Jul 23 '25

What was bad about the times?

18

u/Stay_Beautiful_ Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

11am on mother's day for one

1

u/PaddyMayonaise Jul 23 '25

Yea that’s pretty bad, but wasn’t that just a one off?

3

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Saturdays. People here think college football so everything is on Saturday. they did that with spring ball too. Friday and sunday games were always going to be bad times

1

u/PaddyMayonaise Jul 23 '25

So you’re saying in the market of Birmingham you can have football on fridays or sundays?

That might be a reason why they’re leaving lol

4

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

it would be a challenge. That is why friday USFL games were so bad the first year in 22. i had serious doubts about trying it this year and i was right. I think the UFL is in a death spiral and that is why they are leaving. They are freaking out over money or the lose of money in 25. They are trying dramatic changes which will kill the league off. Its really a desperation move and very unfortunate. Once the UFL is gone there will be no spring football for a long time

2

u/PaddyMayonaise Jul 23 '25

You’re not seeing things clearly.

You’ve literally just explained why it didn’t work in Birmingham. People won’t go to games on Fridays or Sundays. That doesn’t mean the league is in a death spiral, it means the league is taking initiative.

I get it sucks for you guys but there’s a reason the league is doing it.

9

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

but our tv ratings were great ..lol

10

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

This sub thinks every city should draw 25k.

It is spring football.

13

u/AlwaysMemin Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

If it’s about attendance then Arlington should be axed too. It’s not about that though. It’s something else.

8

u/Stonecoldfreak1 Arlington Renegades Jul 23 '25

Arlington wants them there. They cut them some sort of deal.

3

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

only reason Arlington is the HQ is all about taxes and startups. Texas is a tax money saver state.

11

u/jtbush91 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

So was the UFL’s advertising and scheduling departments. I sincerely hope the USFL is revived independent of the UFL. It’s situations exactly like this why more citizens of Birmingham didn’t support this team. Just in my lifetime (since 1991) there have been the Birmingham Bolts (XFL 1.0), Birmingham Steeldogs (Arena Football), Birmingham Iron (AAF), and the Birmingham Stallions (USFL 2.0 & UFL). The Stallions were the only one that actually stuck around and the UFL just killed it.

6

u/whitey1337 Jul 23 '25

Had a cfl team as well.

-4

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

It sounds like it’s YOU.

3

u/ArockproUser Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

most of these leagues fail after coming to Bham or the next year. I thought the UFL would be different but moves like what the UFL are doing now will be their demise. Just watch

0

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

Yeah I really wish Birmingham fans supported the league.

10

u/jtbush91 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Yeah, I wish fans of other teams wouldn’t continue to beat down on fans who are losing their teams. I wish the league had advertised better. I wish the USFL had never merged with the XFL. For your sake, I hope the Battlehawks never leave St. Louis, because you and your fellow fans won’t get any sympathy from any of the other fanbases if they do.

8

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

STL's attendance dips below 20k this year. The luster is gone.

1

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

I’m moving to Ohio soon. I’m just going to support the Columbus team. 🤷🏻‍♂️

5

u/DingerSinger2016 Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

3

0

u/DoctorFenix St Louis Battlehawks Jul 23 '25

Nah. I’m going to sit at home every week, even as everyone complains about the empty stands, then watch my team move out of town and say “why would they do this?!”

7

u/TwizzlersSourz Birmingham Stallions Jul 23 '25

Abysmal?

It hovered around league average. Spring league attendance isn't solely based on success. If it were, St. Louis' attendance wouldn't have dropped this year.

1

u/AccordingLow4854 Jul 26 '25

Have to agree with you Stallions fan. Wow!! Michigan Panthers fan here and I hope the UFL nothing but the worst .I hope the UFL goes down in flames. And FOX ever since ABC purchased FOX the network has not been the same. How do you relocate two successful teams and to the likes of Idaho?? , Columbus , Louisville/Lexington , and Florida ? Ok I get the Florida move but seriously IDAHO ??? Once again Ford field was a fantastic stadium for a team to play in indoors out of the Spring rains and heat . What clowns are running this league. I never liked Daryl Johnston either. Football know it all more football know nothing!! If you move these teams your league will fail!! The UFL is the NFL's Bitch!! So worst regards to you UFL Bye! Bye! You SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!! ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1

u/AccordingLow4854 Jul 26 '25

And by the way Doctorfenix You are relocating teams in large markets like Detroit and Houston Ass!!! this makes no sense , The league in my city had no radio coverage of my team when it was not on over the air broadcast . Others leagues showed you that if you put games on ESPN your league will not grow. You want stats cable/satellite users went from 81 million house holds to 51 million a big drop . who can afford cable not to mention streaming? Also you only have 8 teams the number should be twelve teams. Also they had no teams on either coast . they have no teams in major east coast or west coast cities . The NFL will also soon learn that you can't afford to continue to put games on cable and streaming .
