All Sale posts now banned

Based on the responses to my last "Community Forum" post (zero), I am convinced most of the subscribers here are bots posting about new VST sales.

So things are going to change. I'd rather have a dead sub than a spammy sub. No sale posts. Posts are now encouraged to be discussion based. Questions about which products to buy, what sounds the best, reviews, videos, etc. (Note: If you are a legitimate plugin developer, you can ask for posting permissions at /r/AudioProductionDeals, though they are very strict about who they give access to.)

The flairs will be revamped as well. Automod will get altered to autoremove sale posts as well.

Have fun and let's make this sub not shit!

Edit: Quick summary of the big changes

  • Updated sidebar to reflect new rules
  • Updated flairs and colors to focus on topics of discussion
  • Updated auto-moderator (yet to be completed)

How can I create or find this preset?

I am a bit new to using VSTs and DAWs and I rediscovered this song from a long time ago, and was wondering how to find or replicate the sound of the melody in this song. (starts at 1:19)

Thinking of designing a DJ plugin

This is my first time ever considering building a plugin, but my main idea is a plugin that is designed for grouped tracks, where it can identify the sound files in the track and input the data into the plugin. The interface will look like a four channel DJ Controller, and the tracks will feed their data into their respective
1-4 channels. I can adjust the knobs and/or automate their position, control echo effects, color, low/mid/high, etc.
I've also never coded with C++ and it's been a few years since I took Python seriously, so I'm looking for block coding software, or whatever Touch Designer's method is. I'm thinking of using HISE.

How would I execute this?

Instrument AI Guitar VSTi

Is there a guitar library or VSTi that could read EXACTLY what I wrote on a music sheet/MIDI? I write music using Guitar Pro and, for instance, I wrote a riff that has Fret Slide, palm muting and hammer on and pull offs. This takes a lot of time to program in a DAW using pianoroll, mapping every articulation. I wish I could play most of these instruments where articulations are constantly changing but for now Im stuck with using VSTi/Libraries.

Any VSTi that could read what the MIDI has programmed (velocities, articulations, etc...)?

I'm working on new presets for Alpha Forever Modular. In this video, I'm showcasing some of my latest works featuring a variety of different synthesis and sound design techniques.

Every sound you can hear in the video is completely synthesized (except my voice).

Hope, you'll like them!

Vital perhaps?

What is the best Rhodes vst?

I used Keyscape, Korg EP-1, and Lounge Lizard 4, but none of them quite have the texture I'm looking for. Among them, Keyscape's Rhodes piano sounds the closest to what I want. but that's too much heavy and rough to me.

Do you have any recommendations for a VST that might suit me better?

Is there a website or place I could go to get someone to make a vst on a low budget or for free?

Hello guys, I need a place I could go to get someone to make a vst for an indeterminacy album I'm working on: The vst wouldn't need a midi input, as it'll generate random midi outputs between a specified note range between - 127, at a specified bpm, and every specified period of time, the vst would go in and out of outputting some form of a random rhythmic pattern at a random time signature of certain midi notes from the specified note range.

what's your take on BitSonic keyzone classic piano?

Hi,

I've been enjoying the free version (with 5 instruments), specifically I liked the Steinway piano. I thought I'll give a try to the paid version, but found myself using only the Steinway which I already have for free.

The other pianos just sound bad (for my own musical taste). Wondering if it's just me and I am missing some settings/effects that could make it better?

Effect Building VST plugin

Post image

In the middle of creating a dream of mine, a tape emulation plugin that you can mangle and fuck up the tape. With a preamp modeled on the tascam portastudio 424 (also a modified version that is more unforgiving with the saturation). Eq modeled on the tascam portastudio 424 and a german console EQ. The devilish theme is inspired by Boards of Canada's Geogaddi. Saturated and mangled effects have always been of interest to be after I listen to that record for the first time.

Instrument General purpose (AAX) vsti for organic sounds?

I already have Kontakt and BBCSO and Labs.

Basically I'm looking for something that has an extensive collection of natural sounding instruments.

MUST BE AAX and Mac compatible.

Oddly, XPand2 has the kind of simplicity and fast browsing that I like, but I want something that has better sounds.

I'm not a fan of Kontakt's model of a bloated shell that tries to show you ads every time you open it, then you have to slog through a hodgepodge of uneven offerings to run plugins inside a plugin, and you have to research and buy and track add-ons from different developers.

I'd much prefer an older school synth/rompler style model with good normal sounds like ensemble and solo instruments in a variety of categories right out of the box, like a good workstation synth would have.

Also not looking for digital EDM synthy stuff, and I don't need anything with deep modulation or effects.

Does such a thing even exist or am I asking for too much from one virtual instrument?

Berlin Free Orchestra CPU usage is HIGH

Hello. I have been scoring wth spitfire audio originals and LABS on my asus tuf f17 (16 gb RAM) and had no issue (cpu to 25% max), and when I try using only the SINE Berlin Free Orchestra on a project (the Orchestral Tools contest), CPU jumps to 90%. Has this ever happened to you? Is it such a high demand library or am I doing something wrong?

Instrument In search for free instrumental vst plugins

I recently just moved from BandLab to Waveform because of the limitations with Bandab. Now I'm struggling to find vst's. I'm not in search for a bunch of many vst's, but I only need the following:

A piano An orchestral strings (violin, viola... maybe all in 1 vst?) A brass instrument (like the strings, most brass instruments in one vst)

And as a bonus, I would also appreciate drum packs and synthesizers, but those are often a lot more flexible to find, and Waveform free already provides a few of those.

I'm not gonna download too many because I dread having to install things on my crappy laptop, so I'll only get like 5-6 vst's max.

Ps. I've asked chat gpt and it told me to try spitfire labs. I know vital and surge is very popular, but I'll only download it if I need it.

What is your go to vst when trying to compose music for a video game?

Probably my favourite plugin is zenology because the sounds come with no effects and i can make it sound however i want. Also if I make an orchestral music I use sine player berlin free orchestra. It is a very good plugin for free . You should definitely check it out.

Instrument Keyscape C7 vs. Garritan CFX – do both lack the realism of Noire?

A few weeks ago I considered buying either Keyscape (for its C7 Concert Grand) or Garritan CFX, since I found Noire was rather dirty (by design, of course) / lacked a certain clearness I'm used to from real acoustic pianos (albeit it didn't sound unrealistic at all to me), so I was still in need of a 'normal' piano VST.

After hearing the samples on the Garritan CFX website I was actually SHOCKED by just how dry the sound was compared to Noire though. I thought perhaps there are some better presents within Garritan, sure, but if that's already the stock sound, I shouldn't put too much trust in that VST.

Meanwhile the samples I could find online of the Keyscape C7 (Softest I believe was the preset name) were absolutely miraculous. Hence I ended up with that one.

Now, by now I've tried several different presets on the score I've been working on the last few weeks, and while I think all "soft" presets (Softest and Cinematic at least) sound okayish, I still feel like the sound is very thinned out, and it certainly couldn't fool me into believing I was listening to an actual piano (which Noire could due to its much better resonance).

I don't consider buying Garritan now after investing 400$ into Keyscape, but would it even have been any more realistic than Keyscape if we use Noire as reference point? I feel most of what adds to the realism for noire is really the resonance (the strings feel so much more powerful and carry an actually wide sound character I completely miss from Keyscape's C7).

Moderator note: OP probably has no idea what 'resonance' actually means...

Instrument Three Cello VST's

I recently jumped back into composing after a long break and decided to dive into solo cello VSTs. First, I grabbed 8Dio’s cello with a discount, only to realize it needs the full version of Kontakt, which I don’t own. I love its sound, but I’m stuck with demo mode.

Then I tried Spitfire Solo Cello, and it’s gorgeous—especially the Dynamics, Vibrato, and Expression controls—but they’re tricky to manage while playing and the fonts are insanly small. Also, whenever I replay MIDI in Ableton, it seems to reset the settings. Maybe this is a known issue, but I haven’t cracked it yet.

Finally, I scored a $100 discount on Cinematic Studio Solo Strings, so I’m excited to test those next. Any tips or experiences with these VSTs?

Looking for help to make keep my Organ

Hello,

I have an old Eletric Organ that's start to work less and less each time I use it. It's Eletric Organ Bontempi with multiple sound that I like and I want to be able to use these sound even if the Organ die. I also think that it could be useful to some person who like old analog sound

I was thinking that maybe recording everything and turning it into a .sf2 or something like could work and would be less coding than a separate VST but I'm not sure and I don't know much about making things like that.

Any help is welcome and appreciate
