What is your go to vst when trying to compose music for a video game?
Probably my favourite plugin is zenology because the sounds come with no effects and i can make it sound however i want. Also if I make an orchestral music I use sine player berlin free orchestra. It is a very good plugin for free . You should definitely check it out.

I have tried zenology, it has a great variety of sounds but I don’t find the depth that I find in Arturia V Collection, which is my go to. I noticed that Zenology takes a lot less space for the sheer amount of sounds it have, which might explain that lack of fullness in sound I felt, also because it is repurposed tech from Roland’s gigging keyboards which don’t have a lot of storage space to work with.

Depends entirely on what I was writing for. Am I writing something for Wipeout? COD? Something dark and atmospheric? An 8bit style platformer?
In general, ZebraHZ/Dark Zebra is one of my go-to synths. Omnisphere is great for certain things. Diva is fantastic for anything vintage sounding. It's a workhorse.
I've got a template set up that has a fairly big orchestral section, so lots of Kontakt libraries...the usual suspects, Spitfire BBC Symphony/Albion/Spitfire Symphony Orchestra, British Drama Toolkit etc, Native Instruments, Noire or Maverick for piano, Cremona solo strings are fantastic. A few dark atmospheric libraries like Scarbo, Fission etc.
If I'm doing something dance music related, Nexus, Avenger, Spire and Vanguard (or my Virus TI). I've got the Behringer Moog, MS20 and ARP2600 synths. I've got the Arturia Bundle which has some pretty decent emulations these days, much better than they used to be.
Then other big things, Fabfilter Pro-Q4, BX SSL G series is my go to channel strip at the moment, love the high end and harmonic drive on the Schepps Omnichannel. Then Soundtoys - Echoboy, Filterfreak, Decapitator. All of those get a lot of use. Relab 480 reverb is fantastic, use Valhalla Vintage Verb or Fabfilter Pro-R2 too, depending on what I'm after.
It's so hard to say, "What is best for this?" without knowing what THIS is.
