Hello everyone please ignore my name I am in UK. I plan on buying the Gig1 plan as virgin website says it’s available at my house and I got a letter in the post but I have some doubt. When virgin put the boxes in last year there is not one on my exact street and I want to know will this mean I can’t get it

I recently switched from Sky, 2 days later, they came to sort out the cable and am now waiting for the engineer. I've heard how dreadful virgin is or their CS is awful, but we currently have broadband issues with Sky as ours drops constantly, and my colleague who is with them has never had issues. She also referred me so we are both getting 50 quid each so will see 🤞🏼

I would seriously consider finding another supplier if you can. Virgin are awful. I was with them for 2 years and every aspect of it was dreadful. The service itself in terms of speed and reliability, the crappy hardware, booking engineers etc. The worst thing was trying to contact them, just an absolute nightmare from start to finish.

Were you on fibre or coaxial?

I had the cheapest fibre/basic tv package they offered, which was still wildly overpriced compared to what I was used to in London (the price then doubles after 2 years as well). I think the speed offered was 80 or something, and speed tests were usually around 40 or maybe 60. We had regular complete outages which would last for days sometimes. I know one was because a box on our street got struck by lightning, but no idea about the others. I got a ton of spam marketing calls from them as well, and it’s extremely difficult to tell the difference between a genuine Virgin call and the dodgiest and most pathetic scam imaginable, because the quality of virgin’s call centres is so abysmal. The worst part of the experience was trying to leave. They just keep bouncing you around for hours hoping that you’ll give up.

Been with Virgin for 6 years and on their GIG1 plan.
Get the full speed and solid reliability.
Never had an issue.

If you have no virgin media street cabinets on your road it’s likely it will be on a nearby road connected to the BT network and delivered to your house via the BT pole or ground infrastructure seen as your in the full fibre area

If you are getting the letters through the door the you will be able to get it.
It may be that your address requires some pre-enablement works, and in some areas this is bring done on the day with the install immediately after.
Put your house number and postcode into bidb.uk and see what it says under virgin media. If it says 1000 HFC, it's old copper. If it says XGS/FTTP, it's a newer fibre network.
