Recommendation How many of yall are fortunate enough to have experienced this masterpiece?

I liked it. When Warm gets the gun pulled on him and has that exasperated look as he declares that the “world is an abomination”, I felt that. That’s a damn inherent truth right there.

I’m glad I read the book before I watched the movie. Damn good book

It's a GREAT book. I liked the movie fine, it matched the tone, but so many great turns of phrase are lost.

I read the book before seeing the movie. One of the best adaptations I’ve seen.

Haven't read the book but honestly I really enjoyed the movie. It was different and not what I expected but I thought it was great

The books great too! Has a bit more of a darker, McCarthy-esque vibe to it.

I would say the humor in the novel shines through much more strongly than in the film. The film is good the novel is great.

I agree Reilly and Phoenix bring a great chemistry as the brothers but it doesn’t quite capture the rawness of the book

It’s actually a pretty good movie imo, I’ve watched it twice and have recommended it to others.

Thought the movie was good but the novel is one of my favorite books, western or otherwise

As others have already said, the book was much better. I couldn’t get into the film, ended up quite disappointed with it.

I went in blind thinking Step Brothers. Whoops!
After I adjusted to the mood I enjoyed it but man not what I expected.

Watched it twice, didn't like it either time. Second time the post-modern dialogue really bothered me. Good hats, though.

Masterpiece is a bold statement.
Best thing about it was John C Reilly's toothbrush nod.

What the fuck is the point of these posts? You could at least try and add something to the conversation outside of “have you heard of insert movie title here”. An explanation as to why you think this movie is a (as you call it) masterpiece would be a start.

The first time I watched it I thought it was ok, I went in blind just looking forward to a western. Watched it again recently and really liked it, it's got some really funny moments.

Really liked this film when I saw it in theaters. It's available on Plex so I should give it a re-watch.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this but I really enjoyed it. Great western and one I’ll be adding to my collection.

I enjoyed the book, the author’s use of language of that time, and was excited to find the movie. It’s like they ran out of money or something. I can’t remember my specific criticism but I know I was disappointed.

I did not enjoy it. It rambles and wastes time and the ending is the epitome of anticlimactic. I will admit the acting is good and the cinematography is beautiful though

I experienced it, and the book. I wouldn’t call either masterpieces, but they’re definitely original. I don’t know what else the director has done.

When it came out, I was looking forward to it. Being a rutger hauer fan, I did enjoy the film enough to buy it, though still was disappointed he only played a corpse.

I read the book, right before watching the movie. Mistake. Kept wondering where my favorite scenes from the book were hiding.
