Question Best Free (or Nearly Free) Things to Do in Wexford?

Hey everyone I’m looking for fun and active things to do in Wexford that are either free or super affordable. I’ve recently moved back and want to get stuck in. I'm in my late 20s.

Ive come across:

Wexford Hillwalking & Mountaineering Club - Anyone here a member?

I saw badminton in Barntown, Gaelic football, rugby. Are there any other social sports that are beginner-friendly? Or fitness meetups?

I’m open to literally anything – fitness, adventure, social meetups, drama. Or just cool spots to check out. What are your go-to free or low-cost activities in Wexford, or further afield?

Question Moved to Wexford few years ago and still finding it hard to find my own groove of friends, is it just me or anyone else on the same boat?

Upvotes

Hi, im in my 30s - no kids. We moved to Wexford few years ago, I’ve always lived in the big cities so it was a huge change but a happy one. Picked up lots of hobbies and met nice people and always on the look out for events but still can’t help but feel its so different.

I know theres lots of factors at play, I find adult friendships when you’re not local is different, especially I find that with female friendships. Having friends online/other time zones is just not the same as someone closer and who’s up for a coffee and chats! And just down for fun things really.

I do see different threads on this but not sure if folks are meeting up etc - would love to know your experiences.

Question 6 weeks for GP appointment in Wexford Town

Called my GP today for an routine appointment and the next one is in over 6 weeks time. Asked could I just see any doctor and she just laughed at me and said there is one in 5 weeks.

Is this the norm now? I tried to switch GP's a while back as I moved ~15-20 minutes away from town but these days that seems impossible.

Question Child Free Scene

my husband and I are child free and are looking to move to the Wexford area. We are wondering if there are any groups or meetups or similar for similar child free people like us? I run one at the moment where we live and am happy to start one once we move but don't want to step on any toes if there is already a scene :)

"The plan is to double the size of Rosslare Europort by reclaiming about 24.5 hectares of land from the sea. New port facilities will be built to help meet Ireland’s offshore renewable energy goals. These include deeper shipping channels, two new deep-water berths, and a small boat harbour for local use. "

PSA

If you want to join these guys they do essentially all the members in September so you'll have to enquire now if it's something you've considered.

Quite tricky to join them at other times of the year (definitely can be done, but much easier to do it now)

They are also the guys that do the climbing, and they also do the mountaineering awards.

That's all!

Question Just moved from Dublin looking to make new friends

I’m 23/m just recently moved from Dublin two weeks ago. I’ve looked online for groups and such to try make some new friends but so far haven’t got anywhere, hoping some people here could throw me some options as I’m pretty fkn bored.

I enjoy playing video games, walking, coffee anything really I’m open minded and love trying new things. I’ve been coming down to Wexford my whole life and decided to change my life up a little and try something new. I’ve been getting out and keeping healthy but meeting some new people would be really good. Fingers crossed I get some help here not sure where to go next if not🤞🏼

Arts/Culture Rock gig in Wexford Town 23rd August

Post image
30 Upvotes

There was a post a few months back wondering about rock gigs in Wexford town so said I'd post this here. We (Soverna) are playing in the new space in the Kelly's on the Corner foodyard supporting two amazing live bands in Forlorn and Barmp next Saturday 23rd August. It's an early curfew here so doors are at 5pm with things finishing up around 9pm. There will be a few food trucks operating during the gig as well including Al Wadi falafel.

Question Summer Let in Wexford Town

My family (2 adults, 2 teens) is looking for a three month, furnished let in Wexford town for June, July, and August. We’d be visiting from the US. I’ve hit the google but haven’t found many rentals, let alone short terms. Any suggestions or advice?

Backstory: We spent two weeks this July around Ireland (Galway, Wexford, Dublin) and loved our brief time in Wexford, particularly the Art Center, where I was able to participate in a fibre workshop. We are wanting walkability and public transport availability.
