What are these people doing?
I live in Charleston South Carolina. Was fishing the other night (9/2/25 at around 2am) on the boat when cruising back to Isle Of Palms to take the boat out of the water. Shortly after passing under the Ben sawyer bridge I saw what looked to be people with either torches or some sort of red/orange light walking through the marsh. They were moving north between two islands. I’ve lived in the area my whole life and have never seen this before. Are they fishing? Looking for turtles? (I thought this was the explanation but there’s not any turtle nesting areas over there.) Below I have provided a photo of what I saw and coordinates of where it was.

Clearly it is the proper ending to a Garden Party.

Clearly you've never been to a proper garden party.

James Trickington wrote an excellent book on this. Sadly it had a criminally small print run & is pretty hard to come by.

They're at tribal council. They'll cast their votes and tonight. One of their flames. Will be. Extingiushed.

Really hope it’s not like that. After looking more into it I’ve found that the property they were on belongs to a private island club. They are fraternal style club (men only) and it is comprised of a bunch of influential Charleston families. It is a legacy club (members must be sons of other members) so there’s definitely some room for speculation

So I was just making a joke. But now you got me thinking maybe not. A lot of those rich men only clubs are into some weird shit.

They may be crabbing. I’ve seen people around Myrtle beach using flashlights and a chicken leg on a string to attract crabs.

They've disabled the lighthouse up the coast and are trying to score some free rum.

I imagine they are probably some abherrant types much like the "tulu" cult in HP lovecrafts " The call of cthulhu".... Hud's pulled up walking quite slowly to the air evil idol where they were practised there bone chilling rites as they offer their unbridled abeyance to the most Eldritch cosmic entities. Yarr! Cthulhu! N'tagggen Arrgh-Satha Gooahh something something something the goat with a thousand young arrrrrrgh!!! Their hand is at your throat and yet you see it not etc etc.
You Yankees eh? Can't just have a bowl of soup and a little whinge?.....

Ahh, yes. Yet you're unappreciated for your esoteric foresight. They whom mark with negative are not privy to the teachings of the Miskatonic University.
