Date night in / around Wigan

Anybody got any decent date night spots in or around Wigan? Open to both activity dates and just nice food/drink spots.

3lt of cider followed by some light fingering in Mesnes Park.

Fat fingers usually do.

I think you might be doing it wrong, meet me at the bandstand tonight and I will show you

Unfortunately we’ve already exhausted this date night and the ol’ fingers cramped up death these days.

15 mins on a train from wallgate to burscough. Hop vine lunch, walk along the canal, various other nice bars/ restaurants to choose from if you want to extend.

Get a train beer each way too, just to scratch the Wigan itch 😉

I enjoyed a date night Plata Tapas in the arches by Wigan Central / Hideout., then Hideout for a cocktail after (and a pint at Wigan Central before!)

Plata tapas sadly closed now!

Honestly getting out of Wigan for a day is probably the best date there is.

Relish in Wigan is a nice date spot, quite often have activities on like sip and paint if you're into that

I met my partner IRL with a date in Wigan, we went for a walk by the canal, there were trousers on a barbed wire fence, she wondered if I was going to murder her and throw her in, the Indian tapas place was closed and the pub we ended up in was renovating the kitchen and had either ham, or cheese, baps. Both with cucumber, which she hated.

How we've stayed together nearly 12 years I do not know.

The Fox in Roby Mill is a bit cosy and great for a date meal. Decent pub and food too.

I've not been in years, but The Windmill in Parbold has/had a similar vibe.

The new setup at the old mills is quite nice for food and drink - Feast At The Mills/3 Mills - prepare for Manchester style prices though and very busy Saturday nights.

Yeah it’s class there. Been quite a few times now though, and looking for something a bit more atmospheric and low key

You’ll struggle in Wigan itself - some good boozers for the most part but the food offering is quite poor in the centre. Assume you’ve been up to Albert’s at Standish?

Yeah fair point. Yeah, been a couple of times but think it’s overrated for what it is

I agree. Alberts is a rough bird in a posh frock

Alberts in Standish. If that’s the best you are in trouble 🤣🤣🤣

Good food, good wine, fun activities. Just curious if anyone has any hidden gems!

Bit cheesey but I always see dates at Miller and Carter?

Why has no one mentioned it yet? Go to La Sentidos Loca for a meal. Best restaurant in Wigan

Big shout! Casa Carlos trumps it tho imo, however find it very expensive at casa when you’re a greedy fucker like myself who wants to try everything.
