Been trying to find a full photo, or at least the other half, of the "mural" that was in the cinema when it was under Empire. Could have been in when it was Virgin too but I don't have memories that far back. My friend believes it may have been installed in the mid 90s.
It was to the right hand side, above where the ticket desk / machines were. By slogging through videos, reviews and articles I have found what I think to be 2/3 of it.
Does anyone have any links, info, family photos etc that reveal the rest?

I’m visiting family this week in Wigan and I anticipate they’ll be working a lot so I’ll have a good bit of free time to waste. Any recommendations on what I can do?
Love a good walk or amusements etc

I am going to buy a property in wn2, wn7, Leigh.
The budget is 200,000gbp to 250,000 gbp. 3 bedrooms, no children therefore school is not important to us, safety is the important and most concern.
Pennington, Hindley or Hindley Green? Or which area you suggest ? And which area i should avoid ?
Thank you so much.

My elderly mum is unable to deal with technology and is thus unable to use parking apps. Can anyone recommend parking near town centre which would not necessitate a smartphone? Tia

My boyfriend and I (27F, 28M) currently do long distance between Lancaster (he lives / works there) and Manchester (I live / work here). We are currently thinking of areas in between these two cities for us to to move in together (to rent first and then potentially buy).
UPDATE - Boyfriend will be driving to work in Lancaster so no need to consider alternative commutes for him. I however will be getting the train to Manchester.
The main things that we are looking for are: - Nice local bars / restaurants / cafes - Proximity to nature / walking routes - Well connected via local train station to Manchester and other cities - A younger demographic (I.e. not mostly older people or families living there. We will be moving there together without knowing anyone else so will be good if there is a community to meet people!) - Proximity / ease of getting onto the M6/M61
Some specific areas that we’ve found based on our own research are below: - Monton (this would be my preference but I think this may be too far to Lancaster - but will still consider) - Horwich - Penwortham
Would appreciate any ideas or thoughts of either the above towns mentioned, or any others that we haven’t found/thought of in the surrounding areas of Preston/Chorley/Bolton/Greater Manchester.
Thanks in advance!

So yeah, I asked on here a while back what deserves more love in Wigan. A few of you guessed straight away: “bet this is for some media project” and yeah, it was.
I’ve been working on something called GR8R Manchester. Basically, it’s a social media project trying to tell proper local stories, the kind of stuff that usually gets ignored. Markets, old pubs, community clubs, weird buildings with great backstories, sayings your nan used to say… that sort of thing.
Now I need a hand.
We’ve made a short form, just a few minutes, to help us figure out what stories matter in each borough. What’s missing? What should we be shouting about? And to say thanks, anyone who fills it in goes into a draw to win a £25 Love2Shop voucher.
Is it loads? No. It’s not going to get you a pint and a pie, but you can use it in Argos, B&M, Iceland… basically a good day out if you like weird crisps and drawer organisers.
Here’s the link: https://forms.gle/9CSFNJdRD6D9Xicd7
Appreciate anyone who takes the time. And if you know someone with big feelings about GM, send it their way too. The more voices we hear from, the better the stuff we can make.
Cheers.

Hi all,
I’ll be moving to Wigan by the end of July and I want to know if there are any dedicated studio apartments in the city.
I’m checking zoopla and rightmove but sometimes even these don’t have any good options.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm looking to buy a house in Ashton in Makerfield but am not from the area so was wondering if anyone knew where the best/worst parts to live are? Are there any particularly rough areas that i need to avoid? Thanks!

I'm looking for a local artist to create some custom A3-sized posters for me. I know nothing about art but want something special made for my home. I already have a clear idea of what I want for each one in terms of style and content - just need someone with the talent to bring them to life.
If you're a local artist (or know someone who is) and are open to commissions, please get in touch/send a link to your work!
I’d love to support someone local rather than buy generic prints!

Hey guys, wondering if there's a discord for Wigan pogo. I'm usually around Mesnes park with my partner and try to gift daily.
Cheers!

We've recently started a new subreddit called r/NorthernEngland, aimed at anyone interested in the shared history, culture, and identity of the North. The idea is to bring together people from across the region, wherever you're from in the North, and create a space connecting us.
It's early days, but the focus is on:
History and heritage of the North
Towns, cities, and landscapes across the region
Culture, dialects, and identity
Photos, stories, and anything else with a Northern angle
News
If that sounds like your thing, or if you're just interested in how the North fits together across county lines, feel free to join and help shape the subreddit. Would be great to have more voices involved from different parts of the region.

Heyy!!
first things first this might be a bit long so sorry about that i just like to go off on tangents...
im 18m and so pretty much as the title says i don't know how to find any bandmates or musicians here in wigan, especially ones that wanna make the same kind of music as me, i like to make out there, experimental, noisewall, avantgarde, alt, a little electronic and really folky music (big blend of genres.) my influences are bands like xiu xiu, black country new road, black midi, the microphones, neutral milk hotel, sufjan stevens, radiohead to an extent and alot more if you even care... i play acoustic and electric guitar, some keyboard, own a bunch of random instruments i like and im okay at mixing.
im weird and kinda emo so i dont really fit in with the, yk, guys who just wanna do oasis covers or make just rock music and dont wanna make the kinda stuff i do but idek if theres anything different here or anyone who makes different music so idk what im doing pretty much...
i also want to start doing live stuff too so if anyone knows anywhere that does open mic nights that's welcoming and a nice environment id love that too!!
thank you for reading fine gentle men and women :3

Working in the town centre and getting pretty bored of Boots meal deals.
Talking a grab and go kinda deal. Worked in town years back and used to go market stalls, Bap sandwich or M&S.
What's around and convenient these days? (Side note, anyone know when Greggs is supposed to reopen?)

Hello internet! I'm 26 and currently looking on advice and ways to make some new friends since I've never really had any before as I never go out cause I'm too scared too leave my comfort zone (im social awkward and have autism so I struggle a lot in social situations). I’m really into PC gaming and love getting lost in a good movie, whether it’s a horror or something action-packed. I’d love to connect with people who share similar interests, whether it’s to game together, talk about our favourite films, or just hang out and chat. id love to know how others deal with this so please let me know or just comment on what your experience with this is like, or how I can improve. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
