Many people have had their offers rescinded this time around.

The DOI has been rescinding temp offers for a week or two. There are several posts about it here.

Anecdotal, but I’m in a program with roughyly 30 folks who have finished the training and cert process and of those 10 got an offer -> of those ten, 3 of them (one land management internship in R6 and two with hand crew fire positions in R5) were rescinded and everyone else it’s been radio silence, with apps submitted as soon as they opened. Outside of fire I’m watching my peers get job offers rescinded because either the funding isn’t there (or up in the air) or the position has been fully eliminated as a preliminary strategy.  There are 3 sectors of employment and one of them has been nearly obliterated. I have no concrete proof to offer but these are all upstanding individuals, one of them a veteran, who are watching the world crumble under their feet

And yet here we go again. Almost like it doesn't matter what gets done, so long as the rhetoric creates division and confusion....

I can't wait for some greasy rube to start talking out their ass about how there are 'too many firefighters' anyway, and how the 18 dollars they get an hour is driving inflation

If they won't control the fires let's dump all Teslas out in the middle of it.

These guys could already get paid a better rate working at Wendy's, cutting this force more and delaying hiring is stupid and we are in for a hell of a fire season if this continues. Speakimg as a former federal fire fighter, contract crews are just not as good or as efficient. No offense.

So here’s my take after a bit of investigating.

This has been done before, in 2017. Public safety was exempt from the freeze, and the wording of the recent EO is the same. The problem is there’s been a lack on com between the admin and DA on this one so they don’t know where this stands.

No one in actual PS has had their job rescinded, just pushed back. That’s a good sign. Likewise, it would be political suicide to not resume funding and this hiring.

My take is you’ll be working this summer, but you’re dealing with a legal and administrative hiccup right now.

Multiple seasonal fire fighters for NPS have posted their offers were rescinded.

And even if they were to refly the announcements first thing on Monday, there’s no way crews will be onboarded in time for the season.

I know someone first hand who had their job offer rescinded

Ya you’re right, but I want to complain on Reddit my life is so boring outside of season

I mean it’s a pretty big deal for some people not knowing where they’re going to be stationed this summer and what not.

There are a lot of logistics when it comes to something like fire, be nice to get stuff going and in order before the season starts. (Or atleast have some idea of crew numbers before the scramble in the summer)
