Now imagine stumbling onto the longest quest while exploring "?"

Which one was that?

The only one you stumble upon.

That one where you have to fight with a sword.

I once did a mission where I had to use the witcher signs, it was crazy

Good thing that in a boat you can fast travel to any harbor

u/Random_Guy_47 1d ago

But if they manage to destroy the boat you're in for a long swim.

u/PancakeMixEnema 1d ago

Good thing the Crossbow one shots sirens

39

u/maxnotcharles 1d ago

Yeah my boat has never been destroyed yet knocks on wood

20

u/RecommendationOld525 Princess 🐐 1d ago

Damn you just destroyed the boat by knocking on it enjoy your swim

u/counterc 22h ago

only under water. if you're in a boat it 2-shots or 3-shots them. if they manage to get onto the side of your boat, the reload time means they WILL be able to damage it.

2

u/PancakeMixEnema 22h ago

True. You gotta be way more careful there

The first time I cleared all of the question marks, I swam for most of them. I got fed up with the boat because it kept breaking on me.

u/counterc 22h ago

yeah the way to do it is to get near enough to the question mark that it turns into the real icon, and then get out of the boat and swim above water to the treasure. Once the monsters are aggroed, dive under. That lets you one-shot the monsters (as opposed to 2- or 3-shotting them in the boat) and means they're attacking you, not the boat. Kill the monsters, grab the treasures, swim back to the boat, take the boat to the next place, etc.

Yeah, I eventually figured that technique out, but it’s still annoying that there are like 100 smugglers cashes

65

u/QueepKalm 1d ago

So Many Question Marks . . .

49

u/BarristanTheB0ld 1d ago

And all of them the same boring old smuggler's caches

u/counterc 22h ago

i thought this until i realised even basic Skellige armours can be broken down into Cured Draconid Leather, which is used for all Witcher armours and costs a fortune.

u/BarristanTheB0ld 18h ago

Oh the loot can be great, but it's just annoying to do

The soundtrack in Skellige is unmatchable πŸ‘ŒπŸΌπŸ”₯

34

u/Radovicnovizicid 1d ago

You got to admit the soundtrack in that area was πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

sirens around the treasures in the sea are straight up cliff racers from morrowind with how annoying they are

The worst thing about Skellige is, that I probably missed a big chunk of the main quest line.

As soon as I got the quest "collect some gold and go to Skellige" I decided to do some side quests quickly, farm some mobs and sell their weapons to get the money as quickly as possible. Since I overleveled some of the open quests I thought, nah I can skip those.

After Skellige, the owl lady with the headstrap talked to me like I was supposed to know her, which confused me a lot.

At the end I wasn't able to convince Dijkstra to join the fight against the Wild Hunt since I didn't finish his quest line, and got the ending with Ciri sacrificing herself.

What do you mean "nah I can skip those"??? Have you spent the game skipping any quest that is below your level?? You're overleveled for practically half the quests if you do all the side exploration!

7

u/Sjthjs357 1d ago

You know her from previous games

u/counterc 22h ago

I'll never understand why people buy a $60 game, do none of the side content, then complain about it. Like, if you didn't have the time to do all the side content then fine, but now you've got time to complain online, so you could spend that time on a complete playthrough instead, and see all the rest of the content you paid for.

I love Skellige.

u/NPCnr348592 1d ago

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I enjoy doing the questions marks. I usually just play some podcast and just grind away.

2

u/counterc 22h ago

yeah grinding wouldn't be in so many games if there weren't a lot of people who find it relaxing, or fun, or like they're working at achieving something, or a mix of all three.

1

u/NPCnr348592 11h ago

I like sailing in the game, I like shooting the crossbow, and I like money. Nuff said.

3

u/CzarOfTheEast Team Shani 1d ago

This is so fuckin true. I aimed for 100% exploration completion and Skellige sea singlehandedly ruined my experience 😭

4

u/ElephantSea6951 1d ago

Can't let a question mark unexplored πŸ˜‚

The weight part is so damn real. I wasn't about to drope none of my loot.

2

u/trunglefever 1d ago

No more money woes once you get to Skellige.

u/KingInTheNorth97 20h ago

I love skellige

1

u/CULT-LEWD 19h ago

This part of the game wasnt good for my thalasophobia

1

u/DeathRabbit679 19h ago

Skellige was so underbaked, Ard Skellig was the only piece that felt finished.

1

u/mut9mut9mut9 16h ago

Me rn for the 5th time :))

1

u/Penguinman077 12h ago

That hits so hard and I haven’t played the game in like 4 years.

1

u/jarlylerna999 8h ago

I was like this until I learned i could one shot them, automatically not have to aim. But I was like already 150 hours in before I found that out. Made a point of taking them ALL out then just because i could.
