Egwene is pretty bad ass tbh. Shes an annoying person but her abilities make her good for a game like that.
EDIT: I CAN NOT MAKE THE SPOILER TAGS WORK SO HERE BE BIG GIANT SPOILERS. STOP READING
Shes about 20ish years old and lead herself by conniving and being dominant to be the head of the world's leading group of powerful witches. Their pope if you like. Shes one of the top threw or so most powerful of their number in terms of her magic. There are four or five other women more powerful than her but we'll keep it simple since they're 1000s of years old.
Shes politically astute and has loyal advisors who are even more so.
Shes a young farm girl in terms of morals. Shes not a ruthless killer type at all. But if she had to in order to defend people she would. She's had some training in a warrior society she was at one time adopted into and took on many of their morals and judgemental views.
Balefire is a reality unmaking kind of spell. Both the good and evil sides shy away from it in general because of the consequences but can use in desperation.
Egwene was once captured and used as a weapon by a nation of people who enslave witches for that use. She learned many violent combat magics during that time. Shes good at earthquakes and making things explode.
She has mastery of the world of dreams having learned those skills as an apprentice of that warrior peoples. She can see your dreams and change them. She could give you nightmares or compell you to do things while you slept. She could actually drag you from your own dream into hers or the world of dreams... where she could kill you. Its doubtful given her morals that she ever would do that but shes quite capable of it.
Shes also a good battle commander with her magics. When the witches main base was attacked by those enslavers she was the rallying point for the defence and took out most of the attackers. During the climax of the books you see that side to her moreso.
Shes beligerrent and bossy. Shes full of herself and is a know it all. Shes also loyal to her friends, her witches and is prepared to die for them
This whole post is spoilers upon spoilers... so ummm, yea... warned
Just to add a bit to what was said here- she is the only woman who knows how to counter Balefire, and she also has in her arsenal the ability to produce magic items. If she has a copy of one she can usually figure out how it works given a few weeks (or a few months if it is particularly ingenious or works with magics she is not as strong in) she can reproduce most magical weapons she can find, and she can create an unbreakable material out of base metal. The material is light but not flexible and any force used on it only makes it stronger. In fact the only record we have of this material breaking required a extraordinary effort over 3000-odd years by the devil deity.
Politically, she is use to being underestimated due to her youth and lack of noble birth, but that is more to her advantage than not. She's willing to be patient and let her plans roll out slowly if need be, even accepting if others look down on her or ridicule her while she waits, but she is also able to seize an advantage presented to her unexpectedly. her group of witches are also respected across the land, and she could with some work summon a reasonably large army in addition to the forces she already has at her command, which includes the warrior society to some degree.
Her witch followers are bound by three oath- the key of which for this would be: not to tell a lie (but the truth you hear may not be the one you thought) and to not use their power to kill unless against evil creatures, in defence of themselves or another witch, or in defence of their Warder- a magically enhanced fighter. The witches also cannot make any weapons that are intended to fight humans. Eqwene is not bound by these requirements.
dear god that's not a fight, that's a mass murder waiting to happen...
What internet gods did you please to make that list appear? Samus could beat X in Zero-Suit mode if she got bored. Buffy could take Roy and Takayuki on her own, and Recca and Joestar are the closest thing to a tie (I give a tie because I feel these two would end up bullshitting each other to death by trying to one up the other)
and she also has in her arsenal the ability to produce magic items. If she has a copy of one she can usually figure out how it works given a few weeks (or a few months if it is particularly ingenious or works with magics she is not as strong in) she can reproduce most magical weapons she can find,
derp you are right- sorry, at work and the shortened week has called out all the hurr and their durr is more contagious than a week in Shadar Logoth's relaxing silver fog spaw.
No worries. I've derped quite a bit myself when it comes to this series. 14 books worth of characters, events, and abilities can get confusing for anyone.
I'm on a speed reread to so it really doesn't help. I'm burning about a book every 10 days, but I just got Words of Radiance and I want to reread Way of Kings before I start on it, but I got it after I started EotW again so now my reread is a speed run and god damnit I've gone crosseyed.
When you actually list out all of her abilities she's crazy.
Also probably worth noting in a battle: she can split her weaves (i.e. cast multiple spells at once) with much greater proficiency than most other channelers.
Basically, even if I was considered quite strong in the One Power I wouldn't ever want to go up against her.

What exactly are you not getting? I'll be happy to teach you so that you do not inadvertently ruin the series for someone. Course OP really should have marked this for spoilers. How they are used period or how to do them with multiple paragraphs?
