Another warning about Invisible

I applied for an AI trainer position and went through several assessments that took me at least four hours to complete. They later accepted me to their platform and told me onboarding info would follow.

During onboarding, they required ID and address verification, which I completed. I live in Illinois, US. Instead of finalizing, they sent me this: “During our ID and address verification process, we discovered that you're currently residing in a country/state where Invisible does not engage contractors. We regret to inform you that your contract will be terminated effective immediately.”

So basically, they wasted hours of my time, never once asked where I lived until after all the assessments, and then rejected me at the very last step. Absolutely shameful.

wow - that should be something that they tell you upfront so you don't go through the whole process just to get dumped.

Could be location. A lot of companies don’t hire from CA, NY, IL… due to employment laws.

It’s definitely location. I would have appreciated if it had been mentioned anywhere in the job ad, or at any point before I spent time on all those assessments.

Ya they should have know this at the start. It's on your resume isn't it? I'd feel a little data harvested myself... That's frustrating. Thanks for sharing so others can be more mindful.

It's this. When I was onboarding for my current job, they said that if I moved/was traveling, I could work remote from any state "except California and Illinois."

So you likely participated in training AI during this process

The truth is they can't employ you, as they know they can't pay you peanuts or treat you like trash as to other people from third world countries.

Certainly, this was poorly handled. Since there maybe special issues for remote work from Illinois, maybe 1) try to find out what these considerations are, and if your research yields some result, 2) surface this issue early in any future interview process.
